Getting To Know You (Or: Recon)

Disclaimer: If you think I own any of these characters, you need to get your head examined. Do I look like Joss Whedon to you? Or...whoever owns CBS/the CSI shows? Thought not.

“So, what do we know about this guy?” Xander asked, keeping an eye on their target through the glass that seemed to dominate most of the city.

“Other than the fact that he’s a Grade-A asshole?” Jesse grinned as he watched the pretty women going about their workdays- not even being dead for three years had hampered his hormone-driven teenage brain. “His name’s Rick Stetler, he’s not horrible at his job when he’s not trying to ruin the lieutenant’s life, and dude should have had the stick up his ass removed years ago.”

“Do we know why he’s got it out for the LT?”

“Something about the redhead’s brother being a dirty cop, I think,” Jesse frowned. “It happened a few years ago, so people don’t talk about it too much anymore. Either that, or he wants in his panties and is pissed the lieutenant has taste.”

“And we’re sure it’s not justified?” Xander asked with a glance over his shoulder at his friend. “Maybe the LT isn’t a good guy?”

“No way, Xan, the lieutenant’s as squeaky as they come in regards to the job. And the shit Stetler’s pulled, there’s no way it isn’t personal. He’s out to discredit the guy, and he doesn’t care if he takes his entire team down along the way. Since they’re good people…”

“They don’t deserve it,” Xander finished with a nod.

“Alright. Got any ideas on how we should go about putting him in his place?”

“Not really, which is why I brought you in. You were always better at the planning part of things than I was. Why, do you?”

“I think so. How long will it take for you to get me up to speed on the whole being a ghost thing?”

“Dunno, a few days? It depends on how quickly you pick things up.”

“Great. Let’s get started then.”

Jesse recognized the grin spreading across Xander’s face.
He’d seen it thousands of times growing up, and it could only mean one thing. Xander had a plan, and it was going to be epic. He just hoped nobody ended up in a straight jacket this time. Well…no one that didn’t deserve it, at least.
