Summary: It takes some extra effort to banish the poltergeistss from Lowell House.

AN – Those familiar with the show will know where my original thoughts start and the details from the script end. For others look for the double asterisk near the end of this chapter. The following chapters will be strictly my story.

After leaving the person responsible for their latest bout of weirdness, Anya says, “I don't get it. I mean, those kids were tortured, but they weren't killed, so where are those ghosts coming from?”

Giles responds, “I don't believe there are any ghosts.”

Anya shoots back, “One ran right through me.”

Giles explains his theory, “Not a ghost. An apparition. I believe we're dealing with a kind of poltergeists. A whole cluster of them, in fact, born out of intense adolescent emotion and sexual energy.”

Anya replies, “Both of which were totally pent up during Mrs. Holt's reign of repression.”

Xander adds his two cents worth, “So with Buffy and Riley having ... you know, acts of nakedness around the clock lately, maybe they set something free. Like a ... big burstin' poltergasm.”

Giles hesitantly replies, “Yes. And now the poltergeistss are drawing more and more energy out of them. Feeding on them in fact. Buffy and Riley are, are powering this whole thing.”

Xander asks worriedly, “Okay, they're the battery in the boo factory, so what happens when the battery's drained?”
Giles solemnly replies, “They die.”

In Willow and Buffy’s dorm room, Tara spreads a red cloth on a table, then sits in a chair. Willow brings candles and sets them on the table and also sits down.

Giles is sitting on the floor.

Anya asks as Xander rummages in Buffy's weapon chest, “What good are weapons against disembodied spirits, Xander? They have no ass to kick.”

Giles stands up, holding a book and says, “She's right. You should just stay outside.”

Willow chimes in, “We'll bind the spirits long enough for you to get Riley and Buffy out.”

“How much time will you buy us?” asks Xander.

It is Tara that replies, “Could be tricky, we're calling upon the communal spirit of a certain time and place.”

Willow lights candles as Xander takes out a machete and hands a sword to Anya.

“Let's go,” says Xander

Anya looks at the sword he gave her, and then follows him.

As they get to the door at Lowell House, Xander asks, “What do you feel?”

Anya presses against the window and says, “Sad, afraid of being without you, and a little hungry.”

Xander sighs and says, “I meant about the house.”

“Oh. Still haunted,” replies Anya.

Back in the dorm room, Tara says, “Give me your hands. Form a circle.”

As the three of them clasp hands and close their eyes, Tara chants, “Children of the past, spirits of Lowell, be guided by our light. Come forth and be known to us.”

Giles hesitantly asks, “Ho-how will we know when it works?”

A noise causes them all to open their eyes and see a bunch of ghostly children standing around them.

Tara replies a bit worriedly, “We'll know.”

They all look around nervously.

Back at Lowell house, the door swings open.

Xander and Anya look in nervously.

Xander steps forward and looks further in.

“House is clean,” says Xander.

Anya replies, “Let's go. You first.”

Taking a breath, Xander walks in followed by Anya.

They look up and see that the entire staircase is covered in the leafy, spiny vines.

Xander determinedly states, “We need to work fast. Never know how long before the munchkins get homesick.”

Anya bluntly adds, “Or the human battery conks out.”

They start walking up the stairs, through the vines.

Xander warns, “Watch your fingers.”

He starts hacking at the vines with his machete.

Tara says, “We implore you ... be still.”

The Ghost children watch silently.

Giles pleads, “Find it in your hearts to leave our friends passage.”

Willow adds, “Transform your pain. Release your past. And ... uh ... get over it.”

Giles just looks at her nervously.

Willow shrugs.

Xander is walking ahead of Anya, hacking at vines.

Xander looks over his shoulder and asks, “You okay?”

Anya doesn’t respond, looking angry as she hacks at a vine.

Xander finally makes it to Riley's door and tries to reach for the knob.

Suddenly a wind comes up.

The wind blows Willow's hair around. The children look up. Their hair is blowing too. The wind howls loudly.

Tara yells, “Find here the serenity you seek, the peace you -”

However, before she can finish the red-covered table flies out from under their hands and crashes against the door. The wind stops and they look around.

“What's happened?” Giles asks.

Tara resignedly replies, “We lost them.”

Willow murmurs, “Xander.”

The wind continues to buffet Xander and Anya about as they hold onto each other.

Suddenly the door to Riley’s room bursts open and the wind pushes them both into the room. Once they’re inside, the door slams shut again and even more vines cover it.

Tara suddenly shouts, “Elcric eth snogaw!”

Before Giles or Willow can inquire what she is doing, the wind returns and thorny vines spread all over the room. Some of them even form a splotchy dome over the trio.

“What’s happening?” shouts Willow over the roar of the wind.

“We’ve sh.shown them the way to extend their rage b.b.beyond Lowell house,” replies Tara. “I f.felt their intent and a sudden s.surge of m.m.magical energy up just after they dis.disappeared. Luckily I was able to erect a b.basic pro.protective b.b.barrier around us. However, it won’t h.hold long so we n.need to think of something”

“So they’re spreading their sexual frustration everywhere now?” questions Willow.

“Not yet,” replies Giles. “I believe we’ve only opened a new location to them by summoning them here. However, it provides them with the knowledge how to move on to other places once they’ve gathered sufficient power.”

“But we determined that Buffy and Riley are providing the power for what is happening at Lowell House,” says a worried Willow. “Won’t extending their influence to a new location burn them out faster?”

“If Buffy and Riley were the only ones providing the power that would be true,” says Giles fearfully.

Willow’s eyes widen as she gasps out, “Xander.”

“And Anya,” adds Tara.
