Warning: I don’t know; some language and violence somewhere along the way.

Timeline: post-‘Chosen’ for BtVS; after ‘Karate Kid II’.

Challenge: #5745 ‘‘The World is Older Than You Know’...remix’ by GottaLUVmyth.

A/N: Since Satori wanted a haiku.

Thanks to my betas: still unbeta’d.

Mr. Miyagi’s home/dojo

“What so important you need to leave your training, Satsu-chan?” her friend and mentor inquired calmly, not even glancing at the people behind his pupil.

“Miyagi-sensei , I have been Called to fight,” she replied.

“Why?” he asked again in the same soft tone.

She thought for a moment about the speech Giles-san said to her the previous evening, and also about the comments Slayer Buffy-san made. Rather than repeat their words, Satsu opted to explain in a way she hoped Sensei would understand:

“Demons in shadows
Made way for man to flourish
Slayers die to keep.”

Miyagi turned his gaze from the young girl he cared deeply for and looked at who wanted to take her away. Each one had the eyes of warriors, from the oldest man to the youngest girl. Yes, they would treat her well. She might die young, but if they could help it, she wouldn’t die alone.

That made his reply easier to say, “Hai.” With that, he gave her permission to leave and for them to take custody of her. He was quite pleased to see all of them bow to him in respect before they turned and left.

A/N: Sure hope this is even remotely right ‘cause haikus are harder than I imagined.
