“And so ends another potential end of the world upon a Hellmouth,” Faith shrugged languidly as she and Buffy watched the news channel for the latest news. “Got to admit, this is a step up from gangs on PCP, eh?”

“Yup,” Buffy agreed just as languidly, not really feeling up to an argument after yet another run-in with Riley and his wife. “It is. Guess Riley and his people really are professional.”

“Mm and you didn’t mind seeing him still married, did you?” Faith added, more cattily.

“No!” Buffy said harder than how she intended to sound. “I didn’t!” She paused and added, trying to counterstrike. “So did the deal with Andraste go through?”

“No, it’s on hiatus right now – that invasion gave her enough space to get out of it... gracefully,” Faith shrugged, clearly uncaring about it. “Oh well. You win some, you lose some, and some you just do not know. At least this crisis is over.”

“Yes. Yes it is,” Buffy nodded sagely. “Wonder what our next crisis will be like, though?”

Faith did not say anything; she just leaned back and continued to watch the news on TV. Outside, a cold wind was blowing, and if one was really attentive, or really crazy, or both, he or she could almost, but not quite, hear notes of a song interwoven with it...
