Summary: The fact that Buffy's and Angel's lives suck may have a completely rational (for Sunnydale) explanation.

Character Bashing: None in my opinion, but a comment by one of the characters depicted could possibly be interpreted as bashing Buffy. I ask that you keep in mind the personality of the character making the comment before deciding that I was bashing her.

Feedback: Of course!

Author’s Note 1: Unbeta'd, mainly because it's so short.

As usual, “word” indicates speech, :: word :: indicates mental communication and { word } indicates a character's thoughts.

Angela Klusmeyer stood looking down at the pale white, drained corpse lying on the mortician's table and shook her head as the urge to cry overwhelmed her again.

Unfortunately, she seemed to have cried her eyes dry in the hours since Officer Jamison of the Sunnydale Police Department had informed her earlier this morning of the discovery of her daughter's body in an alleyway behind the Bronze.

At first, upon hearing the notification, she had burst into a near endless cascade of tears, but in the hours following her identification of her only child's body at the hospital morgue and the thankfully mind-numbing minutia involved with arranging her daughter's funeral, she had passed from heartbroken grief to a near-mindless rage at her child's senseless murder.

Nothing she could do would ever be able to alter this horrible tragedy which had occurred, she admitted to herself, so she had to be content with merely standing over her daughter's body and cursing those responsible.

"Teresa, my darling child, I already miss you so much," she whispered to the corpse. "I'm never going to see you see again, and I will continue to miss you every single moment for every day I live from this moment on. I will never be happy again, knowing that you aren't here, growing up and living the life you deserve.

"And I can only wish that whoever is responsible for you being here will never be happy again, either. I wish that, from this instant on, their lives will be full of the same heartache and loss that I'm feeling now, and that they spend the rest of their existence being denied any sort of happiness."

Torma'nti'a, Patron Saint of Anguished Mothers, hovered in her phased state above the unsuspecting woman and smiled to herself upon hearing her pleas.

{ Hmm, let's see, now, } she thought to herself. { What can I do to get the most out of this particular wish? Angelus was the vamp who killed her, so I can nail him to the wall without any doubt, whatsoever. }

{ Of course, Angelus never would have been released if that air-headed ditz of a Slayer hadn't decided she wanted a Harlequin-style romance with a corpse more than ten times her age and slept with that brooding shmuck, } she smirked to herself. { Yes, that's the way to do it! }

{ Considering that this poor woman wanted to curse whoever was responsible for her daughter's death, D'Hoffryn will have to agree that I can hold both of these idiots responsible! }

For the briefest instant of time, Angela thought she might have heard someone whisper, "Wish granted!", but then put that thought aside as merely a moment of idle wish fulfillment, and turned her attention back to the mortician as he re-entered the room.
