New Places and Meeting SG-1

Chapter 2

The next week found Buffy exploring the exuberant city of Sebring, Florida. While she enjoyed the sunshine and beach, she couldn’t help but feel something was missing. Sitting in her hotel room Buffy grabbed her cell and punched out Willow’s number.

“Hello?”

“Hey, Will. You think you can up my flight to Colorado by a few days? I like it here but it doesn’t feel right.” Buffy asked hopefully.

“Sure, Buff, hold on a minute.” Several minutes passed before the redhead’s voice came over the phone again. “Okay, your flight has been changed for tomorrow morning at 10 am. Of course if you want to get there faster, I can just teleport you.”

“Can you do that from long distance?” Buffy asked in surprise. When the redhead answered in the affirmative she mused, “That would be faster, and wouldn’t cost anything. Okay, Will, if you’re sure you can do it, go ahead and do it.”

“Okay, Buffy, just pack your stuff together and let me know when you’re ready.”

Setting her phone down, Buffy ran around her room getting her stuff together. Stuffing her bag in her weapon’s trunk she sat on the wooden trunk and picked up her phone. “Okay Will, I’m ready. I’m sitting on my stuff so whenever you’re ready.”

Low chanting came over the phone in a long forgotten language Buffy recognized as Ancient Sumerian. Before long the blonde felt a hook-like feeling in her naval before the world around her spun violently. Opening her eyes after the feeling disappeared, she yelped slightly when she realized she was a few feet in the air. Landing with a thump on her trunk, Buffy groaned slightly and brought her phone up to her ear again.

“Wills, you made me appear like, three feet from the ground,” she complained as she got up and dusted her pants off. Not hearing anything on the other end she asked, “Willow? Are you there? Willow!?” Pulling the phone away she looked at it only to see it had been destroyed. “Great, I end up in the middle of nowhere and my phone is broke. Next time, take the damn flight.”

Buffy looked around, frowning when she saw two suns sinking over the horizon. “Toto, I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore,” she murmured to herself. Opening her trunk she pulled out two daggers, placing one in her boot and the other in the back of her pants, closed the lid and pressed a small button near the lock that shrunk the trunk down to the size of a matchbox, sticking it in her pocket. Stretching her senses out she started walking in the opposite direction of the setting suns, hoping to find either shelter or natives.

Air Force Colonel Jack O’Neill, leader of SG-1 of the StarGate Command in Cheyenne Mountain, held up his hand to halt his team.

“Is something the matter, Colonel O’Neill?” Teal’c, former First Prime Jaffa of the false God Apophis, asked stoically.

“I thought I heard something but it must have been my imagination,” Jack said, frowning slightly. It sounded like someone was singing Cowboy by Kidd Rock. Shaking his head Jack asked, “Danny, how much longer until we reach the pyramid?”

“Soon Jack, just a few more clicks,” Dr. Daniel Jackson said in exasperation. Jack had been asking the same question since they left the ‘Gate ten minutes ago. “Sam, you think the General would be mad if we accidentally shot Jack?”

Major Samantha Carter chuckled at her superior’s affronted look. “I think the General would understand if the Colonel ended up being shot.”

Jack was about to retort with a sarcastic comment when the sound a of woman’s voice reached them. Bringing his firearm up he muttered, “I knew I heard someone singing that damn song.” The team moved quickly and quietly towards the voice, weapons at the ready. Jack silently counted on his hand and on three, SG-1 burst through the underbrush to find a petite blonde girl standing in front of them, staring at them with a raised eyebrow.

“Well hello to you too,” the blonde said sarcastically, eyeing their military garb with wariness. Buffy held in a chuckle as she watched the group in front of her stare at her with gob smacked expressions. “You know, staring is considered quite rude. Especially when it’s at someone on another planet.”

Jack snapped his jaw shut but couldn’t stop himself from staring at the small blonde incredulously. “Who the Hell are you?”

“Jack,” Daniel hissed, elbowing the Colonel. “Are you trying to be rude on purpose? What if she tries to kill us now, thanks to you?”

Buffy ignored the two men, instead focusing on the tall, silent black man. Her spidey-senses were telling her this guy wasn’t human but not a demon either. ‘I guess I’ve just officially met my first real alien’ she silently mused to herself with a giggle. Curiously, she stepped a little closer. “Are you evil?”

Teal’c regarded the small girl before him, intrigued by her question. “No, I am not.”

Glancing at the other two that were still arguing, Buffy looked back at the alien dude and tall blonde woman. “So, where are we? And how did you get here?”

“We are on the planet known as Sateda,” Teal’c answered honestly. “We came through the Chappa'ai, or as the Tau’ri call it, the StarGate.”

“Tau’ri? What’s that mean? What’s the StarGate?” Buffy asked curiously, her eyes briefly sliding towards the blonde woman in military clothing.

“Teal’c, I don’t think we should be telling her everything,” Sam cautioned. “We don’t even know her name, let alone where she’s from.”

Finally finished arguing, Jack and Daniel moved closer to their team members, watching the small blonde warily. Being the leader, Jack spoke up, “What’s your name and what race are you?”

“You do know it’s good manners to introduce yourself before demanding a name, don’t you?” Buffy asked instead. “Didn’t your mother teach you anything about the world?”

“Fine, I am Colonel Jack O’Neill of the U.S. Air Force,” Jack said sourly, glaring at the small woman. “These are Major Sam Carter, Dr. Daniel Jackson and Teal’c.”

“Great, just what I need, more military idiots,” Buffy mumbled to herself before raising her voice. “I’m Buffy Summers, I have no idea how I got here.”

“Buffy?” Jack asked humorously. “Your parents seriously named you Buffy?”

Growling at the old guy, Buffy leveled him with a slayer glare, baring her teeth when he actually took a step back. “My mother’s sister was nicknamed Buffy and when she died, she gave me her name. Now, how can I get off this planet?”

“Where are you going?” Daniel asked in interest. “Most natives already know of the ‘Gate and know how to use it.”

“What makes you think I’m a native? I was supposed to arrive in Colorado, not some stupid planet light years away.” Buffy said irritably. Under her breath she muttered, “That’s the last time I let Willow teleport me anywhere, no matter how good she’s supposed to be.”
