A/N: I do NOT own anything, only borrowing...
I got some reviews that made me re-read what I've written and I found that my story was rushed and more than a little unbelievable, is a word to describe it. So taking the reviews to heart, I decided to re-write the story to make it more attractive, for lack of a better word. Hope you enjoy.
Buffy Summers sighed quietly as she collapsed onto her bed, tired of having to dodge questions from her friends and watcher. They wanted her to help train the new slayers but she just needed a break from it all, a break from slaying and the messed up destiny that had nearly overrun her life. Lifting her head when she heard a knock on the door she called, “Come in, guys.”
The door opened and Willow, Xander, Dawn, Giles and Faith walked in, shutting the door behind them. Quietly they arranged themselves on Buffy’s bed around the blonde. It was Giles that spoke first.
“We’ve noticed that every time we ask you about the new slayers, you avoid the question. So we want to know what it is that you want to do? If there weren’t new slayers, if it was just us, what would you want to do?”
“I’m tired of it all, Giles, I understand that the girls need to be trained but I’m so tired.” Buffy said quietly, feeling tears well up. “I’ve given the PTB everything I have but it’s still not enough, they want more. I just want a break from it all, I want to be able to go out at night without having to worry about dealing with vamps or demons, I want to find someone to date, someone I can fall in love with. Is that so much to ask for?”
“Buffy, you know we would never stop you from what you want to do, we love you so much.” Dawn said softly, hating to see her sister so vulnerable. “If you want to take a break away from slaying, I personally think you should. Faith can train the new slayers, she’s a Chosen One just like you. Let her take that responsibility for a while.”
“I’ll train the girls, B,” Faith added quietly. “I don’t much know about being a teacher but I’m sure G-man and Red can help me out.”
Smiling at her sister and Faith, Buffy thanked them softly. Looking at her two best friends and father figure she asked tentatively, “Would you guys hate me if I took some time off from slaying?”
“Buffy, we could never hate you. If you want to take a break from slaying, it’s your right.” Willow said sincerely.
“Yeah Buffster, you’ve given a lot to the PTB but haven’t really gotten anything back. You want to go out and party all night without having to patrol, I say you should do just that.” Xander said with a goofy smile.
Giles smiled when Buffy looked his way. “Buffy, you are the daughter I’ve never had, I will support you in anything you want to do. Take a year or so off to find yourself.”
Sitting up, Buffy hugged her family tightly. “Thank you, guys. You don’t know how much this means to me.” Pulling back suddenly she asked, “Where can I go? When?”
“I’ve done a little research on areas with the least amount of demon activity,” Giles mentioned. “If you really wish to stay away from slaying as much as possible, your options are Sebring, Florida, Venice, Italy, or Colorado Springs, Colorado.”
“Hmm, I think I’ll explore Sebring and Colorado Springs a little,” Buffy decided after a few minutes. “If neither feels right to me, I’ll try Italy.”
“I’ll book you a flight for this weekend to Florida, then a week later you’ll have a flight to Colorado,” Willow said before they hugged Buffy again and left her alone.
‘I thought that after the fight before the First, we wouldn’t be as close as before. But I was wrong, we’re closer than ever.’ Buffy thought as she drifted off to sleep with a smile on her lips.
It's a little short but it's a start and I think it might be a good one..review and let me know!
