Word: CommitteeDinner with the Weasleys
takes place after this chapter. And while the Committee isn’t capitalized (like the Council) this chapter , it will be in all the following ones. And yes, lots of chapters being posted at once...i'm trying to catch up so I can do the one word a day thing.
With the help of the Goblins (contacted by Harry) the SWIC HQ building was ready in two weeks – fixed, warded, with each room set up to specifications, and their own sector of Gringotts Bank.
“The buildings ready,” Willow said, “but what about us? We’ve been making decisions, but the treaty says we need an organized committee.
“Not to mention titles,” Harry said. “Let’s see – Head Slayer, Head Watcher, and Head Magic User are the obvious ones.”
“And maybe split the magic one up further – Head Wiccan and Head Wand User,” Dawn added.
“Head Cook – I call it!” Andrew said.
“Those, and more,” Buffy said. “We need someone to take care of the money.” The Queen had released the Watcher’s Council funds to them. “Someone to take care of the girls – a chaperone I guess, and most definitely a doctor or two.”
“Treasurer, Head Medic,” Harry said. “What about Head Healer? The magical version of a Doctor. A muggleborn maybe, who wouldn’t mind working with a non-magical. Split it up like the Magic User one.“
“Someone for people relations,” Xander said. “Several someones. One for normal humans, one for magical, one for werewolves, some for others – different types of demons, etc.”
“Yeah, but one person for the committee,” Dawn said.
“And we need some sort of Internal Affairs thing,” Willow said.
“I want Faith to head that,” Buffy said.
“Me?” Faith asked.
“You know best what to look for. And we’ll need some sort of tracking department, for demons, magical, our Slayers, and rogue Slayers.”
“Alright but for now, let’s stick to the committee,” Giles said. “The rest will come later. Head Slayer?”
“Buffy,” almost everyone answered.
“Right.” “And Giles for Head Watcher,” Buffy said.
“Willow for Head Wiccan. Harry for Head Wand User.”
“Oh great, more paperwork,” Harry muttered. Megan hit his arm.
“We’ve got a section of Gringotts here. How about a Goblin? They’re great with numbers,” Megan said.
“We’ll contact them about it.” Giles said. “And I suppose we’ll have to find a Head Medic.”
“My mom’s a Healer. She’s been complaining about the way she’s treated at St. Mungos because she married someone non-magical. She’d take the job in an instant.”
“Give me her contact information, and I’ll talk with her,” Giles said. “Now, PR Head?”
“Rona,” Dawn said. “She may not seem like it, but she’s great with people.”
“Alright. I’ll ask her. Internal Affairs is Faith. We’ll add more as we go along.”
“So, we’re done?” Xander asked.
“For now,” Giles conceded.
“Hey Megan, want to go with me to dinner at the Weasley house?” Harry asked. “They sent me a portkey this time, so I can’t get out of it.”
“Heh heh, no,” Megan said. “I remember why you
don’t want to go.”
“I’ll go,” Dawn offered. “But what’s a portkey?”
“Magical way of traveling long distances. I owe you, big time.”
“Are the Weasleys’ that bad?”
“No…not all of them. In fact, mostly just one.”
