A Time-line Interrupt-us Interlude
I’m so excited and I just can’t hide it,
Yes I know I’m a book worm but damn I like it
Yay I’m getting an ebook for my birthday
I feel like a kid, not what I’m going to be
Which is a scary, very, very, scary somety
Excuse my poor excuse of a poem but as you can see I’m feeling quite happy about the ebook reader I’m getting for the anniversary of my day of birth! Part of that reason of my excitement is that I will finally be able to put the many books piled around my place of residence into storage or just get rid of them altogether until the ones I have left will be able to actually fit in my book shelves. The other reason is . . . BOOKS, BOOKS, BOOKS, and yes you guessed it, BOOKS!
Hmm . . . Hmm . . . well now that is out of the way, on with the story.
This is a brief Prelude before I introduce Faith into the mix, hopefully it will be a somewhat believable way for her to be here for this Halloween!
When Buffy had regained her Grace she could no longer be the Slayer.
Her Grace had refused to put up with the taint of the Slayers darkness.
So it had removed it, cleansing her soul in the process.
It also caused a lot of chaos with the time-line.
Now as most fans of Doctor Who will know: when something changes in the stream of time it usually gets converted onto another path until it reconnects to the normal flow of time . . . unless it is a fixed point in time.
The Deities of Time in this particular universe, that Buffy the Archangel now resided in, got quite the splitting headaches when a power stronger than them removed Buffy from being one such fixed point in time.
They sifted through the resulting chaos of time unraveling at that point, and after realizing that they could not force Buffy back into the role that she had originally been given, they set about finding someone who could suitably take her place.
They traced through the potential slayer lines until finding one who they thought would better suit the role in some ways better then Buffy would have.
With everything set there was only one thing left to do before setting everything in motion.
~ ~ In another plane of existence ~ ~
Buffy automatically settled herself into a self-defense stance when she suddenly found herself surrounded by beings that came from almost every religion that wasn’t just her Mother’s/Father’s.
“Please be at ease Guardian” one of the Ancient Egyptian looking ones spoke up, “we bought you here simply to ask a request of you.”
“And what is it you request God of Time?”
A Grecian looking woman spoke next, “That you look after the one now destined to take your place as the Slayer who will return a balance to our Sister Gaea.”
It didn’t take Buffy long to picture the young woman who would become the next Slayer, as she requested the assignment from her Creator. Buffy liked the look of life and energy about her. She received a positive response to her query and additional orders at the same time and felt her eyes widen briefly in surprise. As the personal touch of her Father receded Buffy looked back at those gathered around her and knew that they too had felt her Fathers strong presence.
“Father has agreed. Faith Lehanne shall be my new Charge.”
“Thank you Guardian,” the original speaking Time God spoke back up followed by the others. He then said one last thing, “Now if you'll excuse us we have to get back to straightening out the path of time.”
She nodded back to their thanks in an almost regal and polite manner. Buffy, as one of His oldest creations with any semblance of sentience had often been an ambassador of sorts to the various other Deities of the world before humans began maturing enough to be interesting for her to go among them in curiosity and even then she kept on good terms with most of them. She was glad to still see some of them still roaming around after all these centuries.
“I wish you luck in your endeavors,” Was the last thing she said before leaving in a flash of Grace.
So what do you think? Is it believable?
I don't own Buffy, Doctor Who or the Gods of Time . . . although the thoughts of what one could do with the power of time is kind of thrilling . . . don't you think?
