Willow was frustrated. Time seemed to be passing so fast! It had taken another two days after Giles and Melissa's trips to get her the topographical scan, and so she had to cut out her magical investigations to work on the scientific ones. Setting up the program had taken almost a full day. Well, the initial one hadn't, but then she had to modify it, and that took time.
Then, it came back with results the next day! Positive ones! But, she realized she couldn't actually show anyone, since she didn't actually have a way to have the program from Keyhole legally. So, she had to take the time to set it up so that she did. While she was very, very good on computers, only a few were her equal, it still took time. Especially something this intricate.
She had gone to the Keyhole, Inc computers, and set it up so that she seemed to have an actual, legal, beta-test version of their program. One that would pass scrutiny. It took her a full day, but then she was sure her credentials would pass all tests, unless they actually had a physical hard copy of all their beta-testers offline. And that was ludicrous.
Then, she realized that when she revealed what she had found, a media circus would start! And there was no way she would be able to get out of that. What to do? Maybe Giles would have an idea?
Buffy was frustrated. Time was craaawwwwwling. Nothing was happening. Willow hadn't even been with the witchy much lately, using the computer all the time. Nobody was trying to get to their camp, so guard duty was boring, and there were no Vampires around. Giles wasn't even there for her to bug; he was examining some of the things that had been found in the Circle.
"Buffy! Buffy! I need your help! I found outwherethelandcamefrom, butifItelleveryone, themediaandtheTVsandthepapersandeveryonewillcome, andIwon'tbeabletocastthespellsIneedto -"
Buffy lifted a hand. "Breath, Will. Okay, you found something out. Not magicy, I'm guessing?" Willow shook her head.
"Okay, then, hold off on telling anyone, until you've done the magic you need to. A couple days won't change what you've found, will it?"
Again, Willow shook her head.
"So, there you go. Any idea how long it will take for those last few spells?"
Willow's head might as well be on a swivel.
It took the girl another 3 days before she had magic news to share. They again waited till after dinner, and the other two had gone to continue their own work.
"So, I managed to tag a line to Xander. Unfortunately, it isn't strong enough to pull him here. And not only is he in another dimension, he's in the past!"
"That matches with what my examinations of the buildings have shown. Other than the actual age, I'm theorizing that the builsings were built with late 16th, or early 17th century plans, materials, and tools. Same with the tools. The three burned bodies, skeletons really, that were found were all from around that period, I think."
"But, when I tried to bring him here, it failed! I can't bring him home!" Willow started to cry. This time Oz was sitting next to her, and wrapped his arm around her.
It took her a couple minutes to pull herself together. "But, I did figure out how to do something! I can send someone to him! It-it can't be me. I have to be here to push them. And, Oz, sorry, I don't want to let you go."
"Oh, that's simple! I'll go." Buffy was happy now that she had a solution.
"Actually, that's not a good idea. With Faith in a coma, well, it would leave the Hellmouth unguarded. No, I think this warrants further thought. Willow, how long can you hold the link? That is, how long do we have to decide?"
"Um, it's pretty effortless to hold it. I can, and have been, doing it in my sleep. So, at least months. Which means, we can decide in our time, and send whoever we find to them quickly. And, ooh, it lets me release what I found, too!"
"What you found?"
"Oh, right, you weren't here for it. I figured out where the piece of land comes from! It's from somewhere in Germany. And you said it's from like, 4 centuries ago. And when we tell everyone, there's going to be a lot of people that will want to talk to us, right?"
"Good job, Willow!" After Giles spoke, Oz also nodded his praise to his girlfriend.
"Well, lets think about it while all that is going on. Who are we going to send to him?"
A/N: So, that's my question to my readers. Who should they send? I have an idea, but will pay attention to any good arguments. This is the end of this story. It continues in A Xander in Germany, and A Xander in Italy.
