Chapter One
Just something that's been buzzing around my brain ever since watching a Castle ep right after Dexter. Originally it was just a twist on the opening speech, but it fell short of the 100word requirement, so I added a bit. Or two.. or three
Disclaimer: I own neither Castle, nor Dexter
There are two kinds of people who sit around thinking about how to kill people, psychopaths and mystery writers.
Who says you can't be both?
Who am I?
I'm Rick Castle.
Every Writer needs inspiration, and I've found mine: Detective Kate Beckett.
And thanks to what I know about the Mayor, I get to be on her case.
Together we catch killers, and I make sure none of them get away...
At the Launch party for Storm Fall, Rick Castle was telling his daughter why he'd killed off Derek Storm, "You want to know why I killed Derek? There were no more surprises. I knew exactly what was going to happen every moment of every scene. It had reached the point where I was cheering for the villain."
Alexis rolled her eyes at him, "A little close to home don't you think? People might start catching on."
Rick tipped his glass toward her and said, "Exactly. Boredom is a problem for us, like these parties, they're so predictable. 'I'm your biggest fan!' ' Where do you get your ideas?'"
Smirking, Alexis added, "The ever popular 'Will you sign my chest?'"
"Meh, even that's getting old."
Alexis looked heavenward, "Finally!"
Rick shrugged and put his drink down, "Just once I'd like someone to come up to me and say something new."
From behind him Rick heard a woman calling his name. Time for yet another autograph. Rick pulled a pen from his jacket pocket as he turned around and asked, "Where would you like it?"
The woman held up a badge, "Detective Kate Beckett, NYPD. We need to ask you a few questions about a murder that took place earlier tonight"
Alexis leaned over her father's shoulder and plucked the pen from his fingers. "That's new," she said and sat back down to finish her homework, grateful that at least this time her father had an alibi.
