Welcome to Pittsburgh

Numb that was the only word to describe what Buffy was feeling. She turned to look at the man drivimg her to her new home. She tried to give him a smile, but until a few days ago she never knew he existed. She though back to the night her life changed forever.

Flashback

Buffy Summers walked slowly from the school trying to get her story straight. She kept picking at the scar on her forehead, she was sure that word had probably gotten to her mom about the "gas leak" at her school. It amazed her how a vampire could crush your spine with a little blow but saw a little fire and they scatter like roaches when the lights come on. When she reached the corner she saw the squad car and took off at full speed.

The police tape around the house was a dead give away, and they didn't cover up the body quick enough and she knew it was them, and now she was thrilled she made everyone of them pay.

"Are you Ms. Summers?" An officer asked.

"Where's my mother?" Buffy asked already knowing the answer to that question.

"I'm sorry to tell you, your mom surprised a burgular."

End Flashback

"Elizabeth!" Brian shouted pulling Bufffy from her thoughts.

"Sorry, did you say something? It's Buffy no one calls me Elizabeth anymore."

"Right, I had asked if you wanted to stop and get a bite?"

"No. I just want to get there. I am just going to take a nap wake me when we get there." She told him as she let her seat down to get more comfortable.

Brian looked to the left at the young woman asleep across from him. She was his responsibility now. The jury was still out on whether that was a good thing or bad thing. He remembered when he got the news. He tried his best to get out of it.

Flashback

"No way! I thought she was dead up until twenty minutes ago, and you are telling me she left me her kid!" Brian shouted at the attorney.

"Brian keep your voice down. She's waiting out there, and Brian she's been through a lot."

"What do you mean?" Brian asked concerned.

"Well it hasn't been proven but she has bruises Brian. Her mom also took her to the ER on numerous occassions and their was no reason for the divorce she went through"

"Are you telling me my sister was letting her husbad beat her?" He asked Charlie the attorney.

"I don't know, but with your past maybe that's why your sister thought you would make a good guardian." Charlie told him. He knew what Brian's father had done to him, and Brian was a fine example of overcoming the odds.

"Tell me everything so I can take her."

End Flashback

Brian looked at the troubled young girl wondering would she have a problem with him? He was gay would she be able to accept his complicated lifestyle?

"Welcome to Pttsburgh." he whispered to Buffy as he took the next exit.
