Disclaimer: Buffy belongs to Joss. Big Bang Theory is Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady's (so Wikipedia tells me.) I just like to play in their sandboxes now and then.

Dawn cautiously poked her head around the corner. So far, so good. The coast was clear. She knew it couldn’t last, but she’d take the calm while she could get it. It wasn’t like this was the most dangerous thing she’d ever done, but still…

After a direct flight from Heathrow to LAX sitting next to Andrew- she knew Faith had something to do with that, and there was going to be payback- she just wanted to get to her cousin’s apartment in peace.

Sadly, it was not to be. Just as she reached the door- so close, and yet so far- the door across the hall opened.

“Hey, look, Penny’s cousin is here!”

Dawn prayed silently. Maybe it would just be Leonard and Sheldon, in which case she could use Sheldon’s general ignorance of tact and normal human interaction to make good her escape.

“Ah, we meet at last,” said a wannabe smooth voice.

Nope, not just Leonard and Sheldon, then. She pasted on a huge fake smile before she turned around, although she wasn’t sure why. Penny said Raj never talked and Howard would hit on anything female with a pulse. Dawn knew from experience that Leonard usually was focused on babysitting Sheldon, who despite his genius class intellect had the social development of the average five year old.

"Oh, hi. You must be Howard. Penny’s told me a lot about you,” Dawn said, fumbling for the key as she did.

“Don’t worry, there’s still plenty more to tell,” Howard said, sidling in.

“Afraid that’s got to wait until later,” Dawn smiled.

Key in lock…That was when inspiration struck.

“Hey, Sheldon, isn’t it Halo night? I don’t want to disrupt your schedule…”

"Why, yes, it is!" Sheldon beamed. “See? This is why we like Dawn. Unlike some other people who have stayed with Penny, she doesn’t thoughtlessly cause disruption to all around her.”

While Sheldon chivvied the other three guys about keeping to their usual schedule, Dawn made good her escape.
