Babylon 5 Station

"Greetings, and welcome to Babylon 5."

{ These guys sound as though they actually mean what they're saying, } Michael Garibaldi, Babylon 5's Chief of Security thought approvingly as he watched his people work from a corner of the Zócalo.

{ I gotta remember to tell Zack to compliment this crew for doing such a good job, } he made a mental note to himself. { It puts visitors in a better frame of mind as they arrive, and happy people generally aren't looking to start trouble. }

The security maven's thought were abruptly interrupted when he heard someone saying, "Hey there, Mikey. How're things going?"

Looking over to where the voice originated, Garibaldi's face reflexively broke into a wide smile as he found himself confronting a tall, dark-haired man and two extremely lovely women, all of whom appeared to be in their mid-to-late twenties.

"Pops! Nanny! Nanna!" he exclaimed in delighted surprise. "How are you guys? What are you doing here?"

"At the moment, we're stopping by to see one of our very most favorite people in this sector," the classically beautiful blonde in the trio said, as she walked up to Garibaldi to lay a hand on either side of his head and pull him down slightly, in order to kiss him on the forehead.

As the blonde moved aside, the second woman, an auburn-haired beauty whose features were just gorgeous as the blonde's stepped up to Garibaldi and pulled him tight as she kissed him on the cheek.

"You're looking well, Mikey," she observed with a smile as she gave him another hug before finally releasing him, while her companions watched the scene with wide smiles on their faces.

"C'mere, Mike, and give me a hug," the man smiled even wider as he stepped in and enveloped Garibaldi in a fierce embrace as the redhead stepped back from the security chief.

"Friends of yours, I take it, Chief?"

The question made the man hugging Garibaldi release him and take a small step back as he smoothly spun to face the new arrival, a smiling brown-haired man in a blue uniform.

"Some not-too-distant relatives, sir," the security chief replied with a small smile, glancing at the newcomers as he, too, turned to answer his boss.

"Captain Sheridan, I'd like to introduce you to Beth Potter," Garibaldi said as he indicated the blonde beauty, "Anne Harris," he gestured towards the redhead, "and Alex Knight," a final hand wave in the general direction of the man accompanying them completed the visitors' introductions.

"Guys, this is Captain John Sheridan, my boss and the guy in charge of this whole shebang," Michael finished up the formalities with a small grin as he indicated the Commander with a wave of his hand.

"I'm delighted to meet you all," Sheridan nodded politely. "It's always good to meet members of our people's families – it lets us reach out and expand the networks that connect us all together," he noted philosophically.

After a few more minutes of polite chit-chat, Garibaldi got them away and to the privacy of his apartment, with the polite excuse of needing to discuss 'family business' – one that had the advantage of being true.

"So, Mikey, how have you been doing? Really?" Beth inquired, aching an eyebrow at him from her position on the couch between Alex and Anne.

"Not too bad, all things considered, Nanny," Garibaldi shrugged his shoulders in a dismissive gesture. "Things have been going the way they usually do; long periods of boredom interspersed with brief periods of complete and utter terror."

"Okay then, as long as things are normal," Alex grinned before his expression tuned serious.

"How's your Captain Sheridan holding up after being kidnapped by the Streib?" he asked.

"You guys heard about that, huh?" Garibaldi grunted. "About as well as can be expected, I guess."

"Yes, Mikey, we heard," Anne answered. "He was just one of a large number of people they've kidnapped over the course of the past few months. There was a raid on the New Counten colony four months ago, and three dozen people were kidnapped."

"New Counten?" Garibaldi looked over at her in a mixture of surprise and concern. "Isn't that where Kalinda and Harry and their kids were immigrating to?"

"Yes, it is," Anne confirmed, her face shifting to a thunderous expression which matched those now on Beth's and Alex's faces. "Kalinda and young Alistair are among those missing after the raid."

"What are you doing about it?"

"Earth Alliance had assured us that they are doing all that they can to determine exactly who it is that's behind these attacks, and they've suggested that we simply sit back and let them handle things," Beth replied. "They said that we're too emotionally involved to be able to review events and determine what appropriate responses are."

"I'll bet they did," Garibaldi snorted disdainfully. "So, like I just asked, what are you doing about it?"

"Officially, your grandmothers and I are merely passing though here on our way to a business meeting near Proxima 7, Mike," Alex told him. "After that's concluded, we're taking a long tour of the outer colonies to inspect some of the various family facilities."

"So, what're the odds that your tour might just happen to take you in the vicinity of the Streib homeworld after you've visited the family's Starfury production facilities on Proxima 7, Pops?" Garibaldi asked with a nasty grin.

"Oh, I don't know, Mikey," Beth smiled. "But I wouldn’t bet against something like that possibly happening."

"We've decided to help the Streib get a better understanding of Earth's culture and history, Mikey," Anne chimed in, the expression on her face one that would give Earth Alliance diplomats unrelenting nightmares, should they ever have the misfortune to see it. "Especially those aspects of some of the religions which advocate doing unto others as you would have done unto you."

"So, don’t be too surprised if you should hear something in the next few weeks about the Streib being done unto," Beth said with an exceedingly feral grin.
