: Set during the summer between Season 1 and 2 when Buffy goes to visit her father.Twice the Yum... er... Fun
As if it wasn't bad enough that her father had decided to work during their summer together, he'd dragged her all the way to Bayport, New York and then left her alone in the lobby of a random building while he went inside to discuss whatever. She was sixteen, not six! There was no reason for him to bring her here with him and there was no way she was staying in this dingy place waiting for a couple hours while her summer sun slipped away. It wasn't California sun, but still...
Checking her watch and deciding she could easily be back in an hour, she headed outside and wandered down the street.
Fortunately, or unfortunately for her interest levels, the office in which her father abandoned her happened to be on Main Street.
Wandering down the sidewalk, she spotted two very cute guys standing outside one of the stores talking. One looked a little older than her and the other about her age.
Her day was looking up. Sunshine, shops, an hour of freedom and cute guys. Yep. Definitely looking up.
Casually continuing her stroll down the sidewalk, she kept one eye focused on the display windows and the other on the two hotties just down the way.
She was just passing a hobby store of some sort when a man crashed right into her, knocking her to the ground. As she fell, she instinctively reached out for something to break her fall, tearing the pocket on the man's jacket and causing the few items to fall out.
The man didn't seem to notice and walked away more quickl.
“Hey!” Buffy called out, not hurt from her fall, but definitely embarrassed to have such a thing happen in front of the two cuties. After all, with her slayer reflexes shouldn't she have been able to avoid the idiot man who wasn't looking where he was going?
“Are you OK?” a concerned voice asked, snapping her out of her thoughts.
Looking up, Buffy blinked and hoped she didn't look as stupid as she felt. The older of those guys was even cuter up close in person. Feeling someone else on the other side of her, she turned and noticed the younger of the duo was every bit as delicious looking as the older.
Gathering her wits about her, she cleared her throat. “I'm fine,” she assured. Allowing them to help her up.
Just as she got her feet under her, a harried looking man raced out of the hobby store.
“Did you see him? Did you see the man who ran out of here? Do you know where he is?” the man asked, sounding almost desperate.
“He ran into me and then took off that way,” Buffy offered, worried the man would have a heart-attack or something if he didn't calm down.
“Did something happen?” the older teen asked.
“He took the coins,” the guy from the store said, wringing his hands.
Feeling bad for the guy and how worried he was, Buffy glanced down and saw the pocket contents on the ground. “I must have ripped his pocket when I fell,” she said, crouching down, smiling internally as she noticed the younger teen swallow at the sight of her legs as her skirt slipped an inch or two higher on her thighs.
Once she, along with the other teens, had gathered all the items together they stood and followed the man into the hobby store where they could lay everything out and examine it.
By the time they were done, they discovered the only useful items were a hotel key, a locker key and a business card for someone in New York City .
Glancing at her watch Buffy gasped. “I need to get back before my dad misses me,” she said, taking a step away from the counter.
“Wait, we don't know your name or how to get in touch with you if we have questions,” the younger teen pointed out.
Biting her lip, she debated what to tell them. Making her decision, she introduced herself. “I'm Buffy Summers. My dad and I are only in town for the day before flying back to California.”
“I'm Joe Hardy and this is my brother Frank,” the younger cute guy, Joe, said.
Frank provided a pen and piece of paper on which Buffy carefully scribed her name and contact information. Handing the information to Joe, she smiled a little. “Let me know how it turns out,” she said before turning and leaving the store.
As she headed back toward the office, there was a bounce in her step and a smile on her face. Maybe going with her dad to meetings wasn't so bad after all.
