Dawn strode through the bullpen ignoring the looks of the (rather cute) male agents as she followed her contact, Hetty Lange.
Settling into the older woman's office, Dawn waited while Hetty called Nell Jones to join them.
A month ago they had managed to finally find and decrypt a list of former potential slayers. All the women were in jobs where their skills and knowledge would assist them. The old council had a long reach and not just through the watcher.
Henrietta Lange had not been contacted in years, her former watching having left the council as soon as his potential came of age. She also seemed friendly to the new council's ideas, at least from what they could tell. With any luck, they would soon have an ally in NCIS.
Of course, all the others were tied up tracking down other former potentials – those fully activated and those, like Hetty and Nell who were older and most likely did not end up with the full slayer package. Dawn had been the only one to get free and to do that, she had to convince the Don at Oxford that a Summer semester abroad at UCLA would be essential to her success in attaining her degree. Thank goodness Giles had a contact there who could back up her claims and help her.
A moment later, a young woman entered the room, looked at Dawn with a puzzled expression and then settled into the chair Hetty indicated.
After the older woman made introductions, Dawn took a deep breath and began her discussion, “Hi, Nell. I know some of this is going to be hard to believe, but it is all true. Hetty can confirm everything I have to say. After you've had a chance to hear what I have to say, I, and the organization I represent, have a … request which you are completely free to accept or decline with no pressure and no repercussions. We also have some specialized training we strongly recommend you attend.”
“Training?” Nell stammered, her eyes alight with half-curiosity and half-nervousness.
Dawn smiled. She really hadn't meant for it to sound ominous, but the new slayers really, really needed the training. There were a whole lot of changes they would be facing that were out of the norm. “It's nothing horrible or technical and we'll totally work around your schedule,” she assured the redhead.
Nell looked nervously at Hetty, fiddling slightly in her chair. Dawn smirked at the familiar energy coming from the young woman. Anyone who knew what to look for would be able to tell Nell was a slayer.
Taking a deep breath, Dawn began, “The world is older than you know...”
