New world, new rules and new family
Thanks to Malyce for the help with elvish translations
If only Buffy had realised that it would never matter if there was ever a Tuesday again. They were now permanent members of Middle earth. The powers had realised that if the couple had remained on Earth then they would threaten their precious balance. It turned out that no matter how many inventive threats Buffy uttered Whistler was not going to appear.
“Yours powers have released your from their service.” Galadriel explained.
Buffy snorted; perhaps it was her age, “Whose service have we entered?”
Galadriel did not respond to the sarcasm, “All warriors in Middle Earth fall under the valar's protection.”
Methos finally spoke, “So what happens now?”
The elf couple shared a look and Buffy smiled seeing the wealth of communication that took place in a mere glance.
Celeborn spoke, “You need to heal separately before you can repair your bond. You will reside with our kin in Imladris.”
Buffy started at that, she was unsure why.
Galadriel moved to reassure her, “Do not worry for your meleth nin(beloved). He will be with kin.”
Buffy snorted, “It’s been a long time since he has been my husband.” She frowned realising that she understood what had just been said.
All that earned her was a look of amusement, “Young one the bond is frayed but still so bright. In the eyes of the Varda and Middle Earth you are bonded forever.”
Buffy and Methos shared a long which spoke volumes there was hope, love, lust, anger, disappointment and resentment. Buffy sighed finally seeing what the blonde elf was trying to say, feelings whether positive or negative were telling. If there was no bond then she would feel nothing.
Galadriel smiled, “the Valar are not cruel and gave you the skills you would need to adapt to this world.”
On reflection, Buffy could admit that the temper tantrum that she had thrown upon hearing the news had not been her finest moment. Initially, Buffy had been so angry, that she did not want to hear anything. However Galadriel’s patient serene manner sapped Buffy’s anger and much to her amusement she found herself being mothered. Even more surprisingly she had allowed herself to be mothered she was obviously mellowing in her old age.
A collective decision had been made that both Buffy and Methos needed time to heal and they would not be able to do so together. Galadriel knew the two great warriors would be needed to help fight the encroaching darkness. She knew though that if they fought together then the race of man would have a fighting chance.
Haldir walked through the forest with a look that most people would have categorised as being disillusioned. It had been six months since the arrival of the new heir. Although the title had only been officially conferred three days ago when the adoption rituals had been cemented Buffy’s Elvish name was Eliza Celebcal (Silvershine). Buffy had not travelled but
Methos had accepted a brother bond with Elrond. The logic was two-fold one it gave them family and the adoption would allow them to explain their immortality in such a way that would make sense in this new world.
He enjoyed training with Buffy but in the six months he had yet to beat her at armed combat. In the first month the woman had been sullen and withdrawn only speaking with Celeborn and Galadriel.
While Buffy had struggled with all the changes, the arrival of Arwen Evenstar was seemingly the catalyst for change. Buffy started to settle and become more confident in her role. Okay, she still struggled with the whole idea of being a princess. Arwen had arrived and hugged her Daernaweth (grandmother). She spoke softly, “I am grateful for the chance to escape.”
Buffy quirked an eyebrow, it really was a trait you needed to learn. Arwen explained, “Your herven has joined with the Genwyn.”
Buffy bit back her retort about Methos not being her husband. Instead she settled for a mischievous grin, “Oh we will keep them on their toes.”
Arwen’s arrival seemed to see Buffy accept everything with more grace. The elleth made sure that Buffy was comfortable with Elvish customs and costumes. Buffy knew that it would not be long before they would be heading to Imladris and she had no intention of embarrassing her new parent or Lothlorien. She just hoped that the beautiful valley withstood her reunion with her husband.
