: Out of Character for all 3 characters. This is a very young Aragorn who's just found out his destiny and isn't happy about it. Also, day 4 without power at my house and a vague promise from the power company that *maybe* today, but certainly by Friday it will be restored - maybe. Thus, since I'm sneaking in writing this at work, it's very short.
Just Like You
Dawn stared at the man across from her, her teen-aged mind unable to comprehend what her unintended wish wrought.
Her mind went back to a few hours earlier when it all began~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~
"You're not my mother!" Dawn screamed.
"No, I'm not," Buffy agreed, her voice carefully calm.
The calm voice terrified Dawn more than Buffy's shouting ever could.
"If Mom were here, you wouldn't be allowed out at all. I'm just making sure you have protection."
"But a chaperone! Come on, when you were fifteen..."
Buffy spoke over her, "When I was fifteen I was lucky to live through the night. You deserve better than that. You go with Xander or you don't go at all."
Oh, she knew better than to say "I wish", but Buffy had gotten her so mad that she'd finally just blurted out at her sister, "I wish you would meet someone just like you." Really she'd just wanted Buffy to know how horribly unfair her rules for Dawn were.
Instead this guy popped into existence. And, while a definite hottie, he was every bit as annoying as her sister - the grand destiny and denying or avoiding it, the doomed love affair, the privileged family life they had before facing hardships most wouldn't dream of, weapons training... In fact, the only thing they didn't seem to share was high-maintenance hair, though Buffy had gotten better about it.
When she saw the commiseration between the two turn to flirting, her eyes widened in horror. There was no way she could live with two of them.
It was bad enough that after his initial freak-out he'd taken to acting as protective of her as Buffy.
This obviously had to be the work of a vengeance demon. No one else could possibly be evil enough to inflict such a fate on a helpless teenage girl.
With any luck, the wish would soon end and Aragorn son of Arathorn would return whence he came.
* * * * * ******* * * * * * ******* * * * * * Don't worry, Aragorn was only there long enough to teach Dawn a lesson about the "W" word before being sent back to Arda and waking up thinking it was all dream which he will soon forget entirely....
