Summary: Penny’s been keeping secrets from the boys, and when it’s finally revealed her relationship with one of them will change in unexpected ways.
Prologue = Stress
Penny sighed in relief as she flopped down onto her couch and then carefully had her feet propped in a bucket that was filled with a combination of water and a homemade mixture that was one of the many natural aids and remedies that she had been taught by her grandmother and Aunts.
It had been another long day at the Cheese Cake factory and although she was finally getting used to being on her feet for hours at a time and had learned many little tricks for being a successful and well tipped waitress, the novelty of working such a job was beginning to wear thin.
Heck her whole current life was beginning to wear thin. And having to hide so much from her genuinely nice neighbors and the others certainly didn’t help.
Even Sheldon, who had done that sneaking in and cleaning the apartment while Penny was sleeping although creepy at the time, had grown on her in all of his quirky ways and at times surprisingly innocent ways.
And it was hard to pretend that she couldn’t understand most of what they talked about with their interests.
Penny was and is stressed.
Stressed from always being wary of what she revealed about herself, stressed about not being able to truly be herself, stressed about missing her family, and finally stressed about always having to always have to be aware of the possible dangers lurking around every corner if she was to slip in some way.
She couldn’t wait until she was finally free to be Penny again.
As the familiar scent wafted from the bucket the slowly relaxing Penny was drowsily drifting into a half sleep like state, the phone blared loudly making her almost jump out of her skin in shock.
Now fully awake again she grabbed the handset and growled, “What?” into the mouthpiece.
“Miss Penny . . .?”
“Yes I’m Penny and you are?”
“This is Det. Lt. Lucas Davies from the New York police Major Crimes Squad . . .”
There's a certain fan fiction pairing in this Fandom that I am hooked on!
