Prue had barely made it out of the bathroom before she was crowded into a corner by Phoebe and Piper.
"Well?" Piper demanded.
"We know you saw her last night, Prue." Phoebe added, "Don't lie."
Prue leveled her youngest sister a glare, "I wasn't going to, I just wanted to finish my coffee before the interrogation."
Piper and Phoebe exchanged a suspicious look but slowly backed away-sitting expectantly at the kitchen table while Prue poured herself a cup of coffee at the island counter. Prue could feel their eyes on the back of her head. Sh couldn't blame them, she had a habit of keeping things from her younger sisters if she thought that it was in their best interest and if her first meeting had gone badly with Paige then she would have let it lie and not told her sisters. As it was Prue decided that her meeting with their half sister had gone well enough-albeit short and without much information.
Prue was halfway through her coffee when Phoebe prodded her, "Well?"
"There's not much to say," Prue replied truthfully.
"Prue.." There was a definite whine to Phoebe's voice.
"Look I didn't interview her for the newspaper you know it was just causal conversation."
"But what did she say? What was she like?" Phoebe pressed.
Prue slanted a glance at Piper, the quiet, peace maker of the family. There was genuine interest in her dark eyes but Piper was worried, Prue could feel it.
"She's...I mean she's a kid."
"But is she a witch?." Piper asked.
Prue shook her head, "No, I mean she seems new agey but in the scented candle kind of way not the Wicca way."
"Is it really true that if we tell her about us we will lose our powers?"
Prue sighed, cupping her hands around her mug, letting the warmth of the liquid seep into her hands.
"Grams thinks so at least."
"But how can we have a relationship with her and not tell her? Keeping our secret from friends is bad enough but family?"
"Why not? Why do we have to do anything, why do we have to tell her anything?" Piper burst out.
Prue and Phoebe glanced at Piper, shocked at her outburst.
"Piper..." Prue began carefully.
Piper shook her head, dark eyes blazing with anger. "No, our whole lives have been controlled by the elders, every move we make, even the people we love. They can't just leave us alone and now we have a half sister and we're just supposed to deal? It's not fair!"
"Piper I know this is hard," Phoebe said gently.
"Look I can just about grasp that I am a witch that my sisters are witches and that we have to protect innocents but I can't deal with any of this, I don't want another sister."
"Piper we can't leave her out there unprotected, she's a demon magnet if they find out who she is-or who she could be."
"Or maybe they won't ever find out. Paige could live a blissfully happy life without us messing it up. What if we just bring the demons to her?"
Prue bit her lip. She hadn't thought of that. She knew that being a Charmed One was dangerous enough, it was why she had distanced herself from her old friends and lovers. Piper could be right, Paige had lived a blissfully ignorant life up to now who was to say that learning about her sisters would bring anything but pain and destruction into all their lives.
"But we can't go on living normal lives knowing we have a sister out there, in the same city and do nothing." Phoebe said quietly.
"Half sister," Piper said.
"But a sister witch," Prue said, "It doesn't matter where she came from, she's our sister."
"So we tell her?"
Prue shook her head, "No, I need to talk to Grams first and see where we stand."
The sister's stared at each other, a stalemate drawn, at least for now.
