His eyes were dead.


A lot like hers.


His face betrayed no emotion


Just like hers.


He had seen and done awful things.


Just like her.


He held no remorse for them.


Just like her.


He was dead inside.


Just like her.


Buffy, Xander, Giles, they had all been wrong. There had been no way for her to go back to what she had been.


To rid herself of the darkness


It was impossible


She did the only thing she could possibly do.


She embraced it.


And it got her here.


In his arms


In his bed


Embracing her magic, all of it, light and dark, had sent her to a completely new world.


Where she had found him


He was a bounty hunter, at least as far as the law was concerned. He even helped the police sometimes.


In reality, he was an assassin.


A killer


Like her


He destroyed monsters, just like she had with Buffy once.


He was just a little more indiscriminant about it.


Once, she would have been horrified.


Once, she would have been disgusted.


Once, she would have tried to stop him.


Now, she helped him do it.


Now, she was just like him.
