The Eyepatch in the Office.

The Eyepatch in the Office.

Camille looked at her phone. The code indicated it was the front desk, so she answered with "Dr. Saroyan's phone."

"..."

"Really? That was quick."

"..."

"No, have him brought here. Maybe he can answer some of my questions. That's right, temporary Visitor's badge. I'll be waiting."

Ah, ha! Another, totally legitimate, reason to put off the mountain of paperwork for a few moments. And, she might work in a visit to the morgue area.

A minute later, the visitor was led to her office. He was about Booth's height, maybe an inch shorter, with similar brown hair, but the similarities ended there. This man's face was a bit rounder, his body a bit stockier, and he was wearing an eyepatch of all things! Cam stood.

"Good afternoon! My name is Dr. Camille Saroyan, director of this part of the Jeffersonian."

"Oh, uh, hi. I'm Xander, uh, Alexander Harris, but you can call me Xander. I got a phone call from one of my friends last night that my fiancee's face had come up on your website of the, uh, bodies from the Sunnydale Crater. I caught the first flight here."

"Oh, I'm so sorry for your loss."

"Thank you," the man, Xander, nodded. "So, uh, what's the procedure here?"

"Well, first, we'll need to make sure it really is your fiancee. Unfortunately, your fiancee's remains aren't in the best condition, but we have a computer program to show what we think she looked like. Then, we have some paperwork you'll have to fill out, before we can go any further."

"Sure, sure." Xander nodded. Made sense so far.

"If you'll come with me, we can find your fiancee's-"

"Her name was Anya. Anya Jenkins."

"We can look at the computer projection to see if it really is Anya." Cam cast silent thanks out that Dr. Brennan wasn't there. She was possibly the best Forensic Anthropologist in North America, but she was blunt as a sledge hammer. She would no doubt have explained why the remains had been hard to identify, the effects of the wind, dust, water, and crushing effects on the body. That was not what this poor man needed, not right now.

She lead the way to Angela's room, and brought up the last images. The man looked deeply into the image of the female on the screen, apparently drinking the sight of her in. A sad smile crossed his face, before he turned to her, and his remaining eye passed over the projected images of the other two remains that Angela had completed. His body jerked as he sighted them, and he froze.

"Oh, God." His voice sounded horrified to Cam's ears.
