Memories

*****Disclaimer**** Unfortunately I don’t own any of these brilliant characters.
Just to let everyone know this is a couple years after Sunnydale has collapsed and in the middle of Supernatural season 7. Basically instead of Dean going to Lisa he has gone to Buffy, everything else that happened in both worlds is the same up to season 6 of Supernatural. Some spoilers from season 7.

Chapter 2
Buffy lay in bed, staring at the ceiling wondering why Dean had not come up yet. She glanced over at the alarm clock to see that it was already three o’clock in the morning. For the hundredth time that night, she shifted over onto her other side and tried to drift off into slumber; no matter how hard she tried she couldn’t stop thinking. She had known Dean for the last 14 years and she could tell when he was hiding something. Ever since he had returned home, she had this nagging feeling that Dean was avoiding talking to her properly, after her shower she had gone back down stairs to spend time with him and Sam. Most of the time had been spent in silence with both of the men staring at the TV. When it had reached twelve o’clock Buffy had decided to go to bed. Dean had said he would be up soon after her; it was now hours later and there was still no sign of him.

Once again Buffy turned to lie on her back, her emerald eyes stared up at the clean white ceiling and her brain began to reminisce. She remembered the very first time that she had met Dean Winchester; she was 17 years old, working as a waitress in LA under the name Anne. At the time she was going through the agonizing pain of knowing she had sent Angel to hell, just the mere thought made her shudder. Even though she no longer wanted to be with Angel, she still loved him, he was her first love and nothing would ever change that. The old diner had been run down, but at the time it was a place she could earn some money and pay the rent, so she wasn’t going to complain. Most days she would just serve each customer and try her hardest to get through the day without shedding too many tears. To most people she probably would have looked robotic, not a sign of life in her eyes.

One day she approached the table at the back of the diner; she started down at the small note pad and waited to take the customers orders. She looked up from the white blank paper and asked in a monotone voice ‘what they would like to order’. The young blonde haired man in front of her was looking through the menu at the time, when his green eyes connected with hers; he had a sparkle that caught her attention for a few seconds. That familiar grin was plastered on his face as he put the menu down.

“I’ll have the pie please princess.”

He then turned his attention to the young boy sat across from him. Sam sat there with shaggy brunette hair covering his brown eyes; he was such a shy boy back then and still was now, so much different to his brother. She barely heard him ask for the pancakes, as she was about to walk away Dean put his hand on hers and stared into her eyes.

“Have I met you somewhere before?”

“No I don’t think so, sorry.”

She pulled her hand out of his and walked to the kitchen to give the chef the boy’s orders. Even though at the time she was completely numb, she had still felt that small spark shoot up her back when Dean had put his hand on hers. She shook the feeling off, and continued taking other customers orders; she gave the boys their food and could feel Dean’s eyes staring at her. The rest of the day had flown by, she didn’t see Dean again until she was down in the sewers fighting some freaky demons that had been taking homeless people and using them as slaves. As she threw the axe at one of the demons, she caught him staring at her with his mouth wide open in shock.

She took Dean and Sam back to her flat to try and explain everything, at first the boys had laughed at her. She couldn’t really blame them, who in their right mind would believe that someone like her killed and dusted demons and vampires on a daily basis. Dean had called his Dad just to verify her story; once he found out she was real and not some demon they began to speak about the different things they had encountered over their years of slaying and hunting. Both of them where so wrapped up in the conversation with each other they didn’t even notice the time, or that Sam had fallen asleep on the bed. From that moment they had clicked, when Dean left with his family and Buffy went back to Sunnydale they had kept in touch by phone. When things had gotten really intense in Sunnydale with the First, she had called Dean and left a message on his voice mail.

'Hi Dean it’s me, I’m just calling to say it’s gotten pretty bad here. I’m not sure I can actually beat this thing, if you don’t hear from me; there is something I need you to know. I love you Dean, I have for a really long time now and if I live through this I want us to give it a go. I don’t even know if you have any feelings for me, but if you do. I’ll be coming to find you soon Dean Winchester, I promise.'

She didn’t know at the time that the reason he wasn’t answering was because he had been sent to hell. Once the First had been beaten and Sunnydale was left nothing more than a crater; she had gone to look for him but when there was no answer on his phone she thought he had properly been put off by what she had said. At first she went to Cleveland, began teaching all the girls that had been activated by Willow’s spell. After a while she decided she needed some time out, she had been a slayer for most of her life, and wanted to give it a try and being a normal girl, with a normal life. She settled down just outside of New York City and got herself a house and a job, she had routine and everything was perfect, well almost.

One night she had been lying on her coach watching a new reality show, when she heard a small knock on the door. It was just after nine o’clock and it beginning to get dark, the street lights were on and she wasn’t expecting any visitors. She pulled the door open and there stood Dean, he had tears shining in his eyes and looked like he was about to collapse.

“Hi” His voice was soft and he was hesitant to approach her. She knew something must have happened to make him turn up like this, she noticed Sam was not there and the impala was looking worn down and beaten.

“Dean, what’s happened?”

He stared at her not knowing what to say, just when he thought he could speak; the tears started streaming down his face again. Buffy grabbed him tightly and pulled him towards her; he sobbed on her shoulder and wound his arms tightly around her waist. They stood there in her doorway for at least five minutes; finally she looked him in the eyes and grasped his hand to pull him inside. Dean followed her over to the coach and sat down; he began to tell her everything.

“Sammy is gone.”

“What! Dean what happened?”

“He’s gone Buffy, I’ve got no one.” His head fell to look at his knees and he let a few more tears escape his eyes.
Buffy put her hand gently on his chin and brought his head up to look into her eyes.
“That’s not true Dean, you’ve got me.”

She smiled and then he fell onto her once more and embraced her, after everything that had happened; going to hell, facing the devil, losing his brother. Lying in her arms is exactly where he needed to be, just being himself and not running or fighting. The months after had been rough and Dean had tried to push her out more than once, but she knew when he was drinking and angry he didn’t mean it. She knew Dean better than she knew herself sometimes, that year they had spent together, living a normal life was amazing.
Buffy was brought out of her memories when Dean walked into the room; she smiled at him and moved over so he could get into bed. Dean gave her a smile and slid under the covers with her; he pulled her in close and placed a soft kiss onto her lips.

“Hi princess thought you would be asleep by now.”

He brushed a lock of blonde hair out of her eyes and caressed her cheek with his thumb.

“I couldn’t sleep without you, god I’ve missed you honey.”

“I’ve missed you too baby.”

Dean looked away for a second, remembering this was probably the last time he was going to see Buffy in a while. He couldn’t bring himself to tell her that he would have to leave; he didn’t have a choice though, he wasn’t going to let those sons of bitches get away with it. He and Sam had both sworn Dick Roman will pay for what he done to Bobby; he couldn’t just sit by while the world goes to hell. He just hated that he had to be the one to sacrifice being with the girl he loves.

Buffy lay on Dean’s chest and took time to take in the moment, being a slayer and a hunter meant that these small moments needed to be treasured. Now that she was pregnant, things were going to get really complicated, her and Dean had never really spoke about having kids. In all honesty she never even thought she would have children, the life of the slayer normally came with a very short expiration date. She was lucky to have even lived as long as she had, she gazed into Dean’s eyes and couldn’t help but think of how great a dad he would be. He had always been great with kids; he basically still acted like a kid himself. She was about to tell him, when he looked down at her.

“I’m tired princess, goodnight.”

Dean leaned down and gave Buffy a kiss; she couldn’t bring herself to tell him tonight, she didn’t even know how she would say it. She kissed Dean back and lay her head down; she relaxed into the curves in Dean’s body and laid her hand over his toned abs. She closed her emerald eyes and let sleep overcome her.

“Love you baby.”

“Love you too princess.”

Dean lay there with Buffy in his arms and the weight of what he had to do on his shoulders; being a hunter he should have known he could never have this normal life. Saving the world is definitely not easy, and preparing to see the look on Buffy’s face when he told her he had to leave, was going to be heartbreaking.

Hope everyone enjoyed this chapter took a while to finish but am happy with how it turned out. More to come soon, next chapter Dean tells Buffy...Please review loved the feedback I’ve got so far :)
