I think I'm a clone now....
I don't Own Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Marvel Comics. I also don't own Xander Harris, Ben Reilly or any of this really. This is fanfiction people. We know the drill.
“Okay, just breathe Xander.” The man said to himself as he scaled the wall of a high rise using only his hands and his feet. “Don't panic. Don't look down and don't freak out because you're naked. You've been naked in public way too many times for this to phase you. Thank Anya for that.”
The last thing he'd remembered was Willow standing near a temple and D'Hoffryn was right behind her, smirking at him. There was a weird twisting sensation and then he was stuck in a tube of some kind.
He escaped and somehow everything, including himself was different. Before this, he couldn't stick to walls, before this there wasn't....a Daily Bugle....
“Oh shit.” Xander said as he stared at the fictional newspaper building. He was either in the Matrix or in Hell. That had to be the answer.
“Or you could have had your heart and soul ripped out of your body and sent into the Ether.” A voice said to his left.
Xander turned and stared at the old woman that was sitting in a strange looking wheel chair. He noticed she was wearing a blindfold and the machinery connected to the chair looked like a spider's web.
“Madam Web.” Xander said with a nod, remembering quite a few Spider-Man Storylines. “Do you know which universe I'm in?”
“You would call it Earth 616 and ¾ ” Madam Web said softly. “You are the first divergent point in this world.”
“How am I here?” Xander asked her.
“Chaos and punishment. How do you think you're here?” Madam Web asked him.
“D'Hoffryn. Willow became one of his didn't she?” Xander said before swearing.
“She had the power to end the world, end the suffering. She decided to let her pain spread instead.” Madam Web said. “You tried to save her. For that, you were given new life. One with power and responsibility.”
“I'm in Ben's body aren't I?” Xander asked with a sigh.
“You are you. Ben's mind has yet to surface. His body hadn't been granted a soul yet. You've essentially bumped him down the line as it were. His soul will be born in time. The web promises that much.” Madam Web told him.
“But this body isn't fully stable.” Xander said. “I remember that from my world.”
“That can be remedied if you chose to.” Madam Web said. “While science is one avenue you could pursue, it would cause you to cross paths with the original sooner rather than later.”
“Doctor Strange then.” Xander said with a nod. “Can I at least get some clothes and you pointing me in the right direction?”
Madam Web nodded and threw Xander a pair of pants, a wifebeater and a pair of flip-flops.
“Couldn't afford anything fancy?” Xander asked her as he dressed.
“Not exactly.” Madam Web told him. “Go child. The divergence of this world lies with you.”
Xander nodded and gave the blind woman a small salute before heading towards Bleecker Street.
He had a man with a third eye to see.
