Prompt #2 X-men/anger

A step too far

Dawn sympathized with the mutants. They had it tough and, as someone with unusual origins, she could appreciate what it was like to feel like a freak. She even understood why some of them turned to terrorism - no one listened to them otherwise.

However, she felt no sympathy right now. Xander was lying in a hospital bed hooked up to several different machines that kept him alive while Willow tried to find enough magic to fix him. And he was in that position, because a group of mutants decided that he was too normal to work at Anyanka's School for Gifted Girls. The idiots thought that gifted was a euphemism for mutant.

Dawn took a calming breath as she strapped her two headed axe to her back. The anger helped keep her focused, but she couldn't allow it to overwhelm her. The girls were getting ready for patrol, but this time they weren't looking for demons.

It was time to show the world who was truly gifted.
