Chapter 24

**Sorry for the long wait and the short chapter, but I have been super busy and I didn't want to start the battle yet**

The Island

Buffy awoke to the sound of Peter’s voice. He was calling out names and organizing them into groups. She glanced to her left and saw Faith packing some homemade weapons into a bag along with one of the knives that Locke had given her. “What’s going on?”

Faith turned to Buffy and smirked, “We’re preparing for battle B. What does it look like?”

She sat up and rubbed the sleep from her eyes, “Why didn’t anyone wake me?”

Faith stopped packing and sat next to her friend, “We figured that you’ve been through enough and needed some sleep. Peter took over commander duty while you were out.”

Buffy’s eyes trailed back to her rather unusual friend. She really was grateful for him, “Did you guys get any sleep?”

“Enough. I’m a little surprised you were able to sleep.” Faith lifted the bag onto her back and held her hand out for Buffy.

“Me too.” Buffy dusted off her clothes and wiped the sleep from her eyes. “How many have agreed to come?”

Faith smiled and gestured around, “Everyone wanted to go, but we are leaving the pregnant girl and a few others back with the docs so they can help with any wounded.”

Buffy’s heart swelled, “People are a lot braver than they are given credit for.”

Peter called them over, “I think everyone is ready. Brennan and the Winchesters are going over the exorcism ritual with a few of the others. Jack is packing up supplies and everyone else is gathering weapons and some food.”

Buffy nodded her head, “How long until we’re ready?”

Peter thought for a moment, “About an hour, maybe two. I flew over the area where we rescued you and I found a spot where we can set up camp. The demons won’t know we’re there.”

“Did they seem on alert?” He looked at her confused. “I mean, you guys rescued me from their camp, did it seem like they were preparing for an attack, or to come after us?”

“They seemed to have fortified their camp a little bit, but other than that I didn’t notice much else. I didn’t want to get too close. They might have figured something was up.”

“Understandable. Good job Peter and thanks for taking over and letting me sleep.” Buffy gave him a warm smile.

Peter winked at her, “Anytime.”

Buffy wasn’t sure if he was flirting with her or just being himself so she only smiled in response and left to help gather weapons. She ended up helping Dean craft some weapons for the survivors to use. They wouldn’t be very effective, but it would make them feel better. She could feel a surge of energy building within her body and knew that it was the excitement before the battle. She was confident that they would be successful today.

San Francisco-Halliwell Manor

Nate spread the maps out on a large round table in the attic. Everyone gathered around him and studied the maps while he thought over all of the information that he had gathered. “From my calculations, their plane should have crashed in this area.” His hand floated over the map indicating a 100 mile radius.

Xander sighed, “That is still a lot of area to cover.”

“I can narrow it down a little.” Leo leaned over the map and pointed to a spot within the circle that Nate had indicated, “The last time that I sensed the girls, they were here. They were traveling North East which should put them around this area…maybe.” With Leo’s information it narrowed the search area down to a ten mile radius, but it didn’t look promising. The entire area was ocean from what they could see. No islands or land masses of any sort.

“Who’s up for some deep sea fishing?” Giles rolled his eyes at Xander. “What? I don’t see a whole lot of land out there do you? I’m not saying it’s not worth a look, but we need to be realistic.”

“I’m going. Willow is out there somewhere and I’m going to find her.” Everyone looked at Oz.

Bobby stood next to Oz, “I’m with the boy. They’re obviously still alive and I’m not gonna give up.”

“Alright, anyone who wants to go, raise your hands.” Everyone’s hands began to raise, some more reluctantly than others, “I’ll call on the Elders to see if they can send someone to watch over the mansion while we are gone. I want you all ready to go when I get back.” Leo disappeared leaving the rest of the group starring at a map of the ocean.
