Disclaimer: BTVS doesn’t belong to me it is property of Joss Whedon and Supernatural is property of Eric Kripke.

This story takes place after season five of Buffy and before season one Supernatural.

Dawn sat on her bed tears rolling down her face. She held a picture of Buffy in her right hand and one of her mom in her other. The pain from the death of her mom was almost unbearable but losing her sister now, she lost it. The pain was too great.

She packed her back pack. There’s nothing left for her in Sunnydale but to leave, start new maybe. She’s only fourteen but she felt like sixty. She was tired of this helpless feeling and climbed out the window of her house.

As soon as her feet touched the wet grass of her front lawn she could feel a sinking feeling in her gut but she already made up her mind. The night was cold, the air filled with a thick mist that blocked out most of Dawn’s vision but she kept going.

She had no idea where she was headed or what she would do once she got there but the only thing that mattered was that she got away. She found the highway through the mist and followed along it. Not many cars drove on that rode that night but one car made its way down that highway and passed Dawn right as she collapsed.

“Dad!” Sam said from the backseat of the impala. “There’s a girl out there.”

John jerked the car to a stop next to the girl who had just fallen down on the side of the road.

“Are you alright?” Sam asked jumping out of the car.

Dean and John followed him out the car where they all stood around the collapsed girl. Sam put his arm around her and helped her to the car. She lied down in the backseat her exhaustion got the best of her but now she could see the nice people that stopped to help her.

“Hey, what are you doing out here?” Sam asked.

Dawn’s eyes met his for a moment and she broke in to tears. “My family’s dead.” She threw her arms around Sam.

Sam held her there for a moment before turning and looking at his dad.

Dean pulled his dad aside while the girl cried on Sam. “Dad, we need to help her.”

“I know we do.” John said.

“I think we should take her with us.”

“Dean, I’m not sure if that’s a good idea.”

“We could leave her with Bobby for the time being.”

John shook his head then thought about it.

“Fine, she can stay with Bobby.” John said.

Dean walked over to the crying Dawn. “Hey, how would you like to come with us?”

Dawn looked up from Sam’s shoulder, “Okay.” She said in between sobs.
