World without shrimp

The time anomaly beckoned. It shone and twinkled in the rays of the early morning sun. Rex the coelurasauravus took several tentative steps through it... before deciding that he did not like this place: it smelled funny and the air was hard to breathe. Still, there were some tasty-smelling armored creatures, so he took his time and cracked open two of them with his powerful jaws and ate them, before going back to the present.

“...and since he must’ve eaten their first, Cambrian, ancestors, our world has had no shrimp, or krill, or any other crustaceans whatsoever,” Connor explained to Buffy, who just nodded in reply:

“Hah, fancy that!”

And then they got back to business at hand.
