Summary: Some wishes take longer than others to be fulfilled. It is supposed to be a response to the “To Boldly Go . . . To The Movies” challenge but there are two other stories already posted.
It’s been over twenty years since the wish was made. A long time in order to reach fruition, but then the wisher was Sicilian. The subtlety of the various events that took place over the years all leading to this moment was something that would appeal to her heritage, even if this coming act would bring her pain as well.
Oh, well. Collateral damage was not her concern. Just the granting of the wish. And this wish had hardly taken any power at all to set in motion. Sure, she provided a little nudge here and another there on occasion as she checked in on the wish’s progress over the years, but really, these people did most of the work for her just by being who they were.
Now she looked out over the steps of the opera house in Palermo at the four figures there. Two women and a man holding onto the dead body of another woman, his daughter. The three still living in mourning over the death of one loved by all of them.
Of course, it’s ironic that one of the mourning women was the wisher so long ago.
Again, not her concern.
The man’s future was now set. He would die alone and broken in spirit just as Connie had wished for back when her husband was murdered on orders from her own brother.
Anyanka was pleased with all the violence and death that had come about over the years that the wish played out even if she had stretched the ‘scorned woman’ definition a bit. D’Hoffryn always appreciated ingenuity. She might even win ‘Vengeance Demon of the Year’ for this.
AN: The wish was made during “The Godfather” and culminated during “The Godfather III”.
