She told Ramona how she felt about that situation.+++++TWO: ALLISON
Allison's office door opened. She looked up. "Faith," she said.
"Hey, Doc," Faith said. She closed the door and plopped into one of Allison's guest chairs. "Sorry your friend had to leave."
"Yeah. Me too." Allison heard the coolness in her voice and decided she didn't want to warm it up at all. "What do you need, Faith?"
"I just..." Faith sighed and shoved her hand through her hair. "Damn, you ain't gonna make this easy on me, are you?"
"Make what easy?" No, Allison decided; she wasn't.
"Fuck, Doc, don't be that way! You know he was breakin' the rules!"
To that, Allison had no response.
Because Faith was right, and Allison had chosen not to see it.
She sighed. "I know," she said. "I shouldn't have let it happen that way, and I'm sorry I let it go as far as it did. I..." She cast about for the right word. "He was hurting over Vi, and... oh, I don't know, I really wasn't thinking."
"Me neither. Even after the worst of the spell wore off, I shoulda stepped back, y'know? Shoulda used my brain, or even my heart -- Vi's my friend, damn it."
"I know, Faith--"
But Faith apparently had chosen to unload everything on Allison, and, as she'd learned in her short time with the Council, Faith was a force of nature that one simply had to bend to. So Allison bent and listened.
"It wasn't bad enough that the fuckin' spell made me ride him like a goddamn stallion, was it?" Allison tried not to think about one of her closest friends having sex; she'd never, ever thought of him that way, and didn't want to start now. "But then I let myself get drawn in, let myself get attached. And I didn't listen to anyone who was tellin' me to back off, did I?"
"Who told you to back off? I didn't--"
"Yeah, until y'did."
Allison leaned forward in her chair, hands folded on her desk. "Faith, I apologized. I don't know what else I can do."
Faith waved a hand. "I don't really blame you, Doc. You just wanted your friend to be happy. But even fuckin' Andrew told me to watch out, that he was takin' advantage of me--"
"I know he wasn't doin' it on purpose," Faith said. "God, girl, I ain't that dumb."
"I never said--"
Now Faith held up both hands and seemed to be making a conscious effort to control her emotions. After a few seconds, she slumped in the chair. "Look, Doc, I'm just here to say I'm sorry for your friend having to leave. I don't blame you, and I really don't blame him."
Allison was comforted by that. At least until Faith spoke up again.
"I blame me."+++++Your continued support, readership, and reviews are, as always, greatly appreciated.
For those of you who may have forgotten, Chris (Dr. Frost) was the guidance counselor/psychiatrist at the slayer school. He'd stopped working with Faith a couple of years previously, but about three months before this story, a Big Bad's spell forced them to have sex. They realized there was an attraction and gave it a go, but as you can see, it didn't end well.
Tomorrow: Faith and Buffy.
