Winter is ending and Summers has returned

Disclaimer: I own nothing at all. Buffy belongs to Joss Whedon and Harry Potter is the property of the brilliant and wonderful
J.K. Rowling.

The next morning there were more whispers than usual in the Great Hall at breakfast, the room was practically buzzing with rumor and excitement.

Harry, used to the whispers being directed at him, ignored them with ease and had no interest in finding out what the school thought was going on. Ron and Hermione, however, were dying to know what was happening.

As if in response to their questions, a seventh year Ravenclaw jumped up and shouted,

“Buffy Summers is coming back?!” in astonishment.
Ron’s mouth fell open and his eyes went wide as dinner plates. Concerned, Hermione asked,

“Ron, what’s the matter? Do you know her?” There was more than a touch of jealousy in her voice.

Ron shook his head.

“No, but I guess Fred and George did. I always thought that they had just made her up, that they were joshing me. I assumed she wasn’t real…” He trailed off, looking rather stunned. Hermione frowned.

“I don’t understand. Why wouldn’t she be real?” Ron shrugged, looking vaguely embarrassed and more than a little shocked.

“Buffy Summers is supposedly the most powerful, most talented, and most beautiful witch ever to go to Hogwarts.”

Seeing Hermione’s hurt look, he hurriedly continued, “But I don’t see how she could possibly be more beautiful or talented then you Hermione.”

Hermione blushed bright red, and then leaned up on her toes to thoroughly kiss her boyfriend.

When she pulled away Ron looked very pleased with himself and Harry was having trouble containing his disgust at their obvious display of affection.

“I need to owl Fred and George; they’ll want to know about this. Blimey, what if they came to visit? That’d be brilliant!”
Harry could no longer contain his snort. Speaking for the first time that morning, he said,

“I doubt she’s really that pretty. I mean, Fred and George will chase anything in a skirt; they don’t exactly have anything even resembling standards. And the Hogwarts rumor has a more than slight tendency to exaggerate.”

Hermione looked appalled at this, but Ron merely shrugged and looked away, by now used to his friend’s new cynicism.

Ron turned and headed to the seventh year boys dorm he shared with Harry. After finishing the letter to his brothers, he set off for the owlry and sent Pig off to Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes, informing Fred and George that Buffy Summers was rumored to be returning to Hogwarts.

George looked up and noticed a small owl headed toward the window of the office he shared with Fred. Opening the window with a wave of his wand he called out,

“Fred, we have mail!” Getting a better look at the bird carrying it he added, “It seems to be from our favorite brother too!” Grinning, Fred entered the room.

“Bill?” George shook his head. Grins on both their faces now, Fred guessed again.

“Charlie?” George shook his head again. Pretending to think about it, Fred finally snapped his fingers triumphantly and shouted,

“Ginny!” George shook his head in mock exasperation.

“No you twit! Remember last summer Ginny told us she’s a girl. It’s from Ron.” Fred nodded sagely.

“Ah, that favorite brother. What has he got to say? Does he need advice on kissing again? Because I think he nearly killed us after last time.” George shrugged.

“I don’t remember, I don’t think the gap in memory from where he walloped me with the frying pan has healed yet.” They grinned at each other, and then turned back to the letter.

As Fred finished reading it, his grin became wicked.

“Well, well, well, George. Guess who’s returning to Hogwarts.” Something in his twin’s tone caused George to look up, and one glance at his brother’s face told him who is was.

An identical smile crossed his own face.

“Ladies and especially gentlemen, winter is ending and Summers has returned.”
