Disclaimer: I don’t own Buffy or Joan of Arcadia.
A/N:Just one of my musings. I am messing with time lines here. Also, I’m leaving it open-ended. You can imagine what happens from here.
Joan was walking to school when she ran into God again.
“You’re going to be late,” he said in ‘cute boy’ guise.
“I know, no thanks to you
,” she said grouchily.
“What did I
do?” He asked.
“The storm,” Joan answered referring to the past evening’s weather which had knocked their power out.
“It was your choice not to heed the warnings on the news, Joan,” God answered.
“And what could I have done?” Joan asked.
“Put batteries in your clock,” he answered with a shrug.
“Ok. I didn’t think of that. But, really, who would
have?” Joan asked.
“Of course,” Joan rolled her eyes. Smarty-pants Luke thought of everything.
“You should walk a little faster,” God said. “There’s a new transfer arriving today. I think you should help her find her way around.”
“Fine.” Joan said as she sped up. “At least, this assignment is easy.”
God only smiled one of his ambiguous smiles. Joan knew those smiles. It meant he knew something she didn’t and he wasn’t going to tell her.
“What?” She asked anyway but he just kept smiling as he walked away.
“Oh, Come on!”
She really hated when he was in ‘cute boy’ mode. It made it harder to be mad at him.
“Joan, just the girl I wanted to see,” Assistant Principal Price said as Joan walked into school right on time. “I’d like you meet our new transfer student. She comes all the way from L.A. Show her around for me, will you?”
And with that he walked away without making the proper introductions.
“That was abrupt,” Joan said before focusing on the new girl. “Hi, I’m Joan Girardi.”
“Buffy Summers,” the transfer said with a smile.
