Scott walked onto the X-Jet and saw Beast hard at work with Buffy's blood sample. He can't believe someone would be so cruel to bludgeon his cousin to within an inch of her life. Scott walked over and saw her blood sample on screen.
"What are you doing?" Scott asked.
Hank smiled and replied. "I'm running your cousin's blood sample through some personal files along with Cerebro's database, it might pull up a potential match for a mother, if she's a mutant."
Scott sat down still trying to wrap his head around everything. "Hard to believe that this is the same girl that used to get upset that she didn't make it to cheerleading practice on time. The only way I could figure this event happening was she was beaten into a coma by another cheerleader. Now she has no idea where she came from and someone out there was cruel enough to do that."
"When sorrows come, they come not single spies, but in battalions" Beast replied quoting one his favorites.
Scott innocently chuckled. "You know if Buffy was actually awake she'd say why couldn't you just say when it rains it pours instead of quoting Hamlet."
Beast looked up seeing they have a match for a mother. "Well, that is most certainly an error."
Scott nodded in agreement there's his nightmares for the week. "Might want to try again Dr. McCoy."
Logan walked through the halls of Sunnydale High sniffing out Buffy's attacker. He's here, he can smell it. He smells the air around him again and rolled his eyes. "Come on out Rogue, I know you're there."
The teenaged goth looked around. "Ah can tell ya one thing ah wish ah weren't this place reminds meh way too much of Bayville what is it with red and yellow."
Logan looked at her. "Why are you here stripe?"
"Ah thought ya could use some help." Rogue looked at Logan's scowl and knew that wasn't working. "Ah can't stand hospitals OK."
Logan nodded that sounded more like her. "I think he's in the library you leave him to me he's a vam… you're the only person I can talk to."
"OK" Rogue replied wondering where that came from.
Logan turns and faces her anger in his eyes. "You can't make me disappear just because you say it's over."
Rogue nodded "Ah can take care of myself and ahm not making ya..." She cups Logan's face in her hand unknowingly absorbing him and adds. "Ah just want ya to be able to have some kind of normal life. We can never have that, don't ya see?" She lowers her hand.
"I don't give a damn about a normal life! I'm going crazy not seeing you. I think about you every minute." Logan replied.
She raises her hand to his cheek. "Ah know. But it's over. It has to be!"
She turns around and starts to leave. He looks up again and starts to chase after her.
Logan angrily chased after her. "Come back here! We're not finished!" He grabs her by the arm and turns her around to face him. "You don't care anymore, is that it?"
Rogue started sobbing. "It doesn't matter, it doesn't matter what Ah feel."
"Then tell me you don't love me!" Logan ordered. "Say it!"
Rogue looked him right in the eyes. "Is that what ya need to hear? Will that help?" Rogue made sure this part got across it has to. "Ah don't… Ah don't. Now let me go." She tries to go but Logan stops her
Logan shakes his head in denial somehow pulling out a revolver. "No. A person doesn't just wake up and stop loving somebody!"
Rogue looks at the gun and then at Logan frightened.
Spike stuck his head out the Library door the one time he needs the watcher and he's not around. He sees Buffy's bodyguard with a revolver aimed at likely a student. "He's going to kill her." Spike shrugged and walked away.
Logan glared at her. "Love is forever. I'm not afraid to use it, I swear! If I can't be with you..."
Rogue looked away. "Oh, my God!"
She turns around and starts running out of the hall toward the balcony.
Logan races after her. "DON'T WALK AWAY FROM ME BITCH!"
Rogue runs out of the hall. Logan runs after her. Rogue barges through the door out onto the balcony.
"Stop it!" Logan comes out the door. "Stop it! Don't make me!"
He stops next to the balcony railing.
Rogue is breathing heavily with fear. "All right. Just..." She turns around. "You know ya don't want to do this. Let's both... just calm down. Now give meh the gun." She holds out her hand.
Logan just kept the gun pointed. "Don't. Don't do that, damn it! Don't talk to me like I'm some stupid..."
The gun goes off. Rogue flinches from the wound. Rogue has her hand clutched to her chest. She pulls it away and sees the blood. She looks up at Logan. He stares back in open-mouthed shock at what he just did.
Rogue looked at him. "James" She goes into shock from the bullet wound and begins to fall backward. She tumbles over the balcony railing down to the base of the stairs below. Logan looked at the body a moment and left. However thanks to Rogue touching him twice Wolverine's healing powers get right to work pushing out the bullet and healing her wounds as Rogue gets back to her feet.
Logan walks into the music room gun in hand and turns on the record player ready to end it for what he did. He aims the gun at his head and pulls the trigger only for it to bounce off his adamantium skull. He turns to the door and sees Rogue looking at him and taking the gun away from him. "Grace!"
"Don't do this." Rogue pleaded.
Logan looked at her in disbelief. "But-but I killed you."
Rogue shook her head. "It was an accident. It wasn't your fault."
Logan shakes his head he had the gun his fault. "Oh, it is my fault. How could I..."
Rogue held him close. "Shhh. Ah'm the one who should be sorry, James. You thought Ah stopped loving you. But Ah never did. Ah loved you with my last breath."
Logan lets out a few sobs as Rogue stopped. "Shhh... No more tears."
Logan and Rogue kiss. They hold each other tightly as they continue kissing for a long time. Above them in the ceiling a bright light appears, and the spirits of Grace and James leave this world for the next. As quickly as it appeared the light is gone. Logan and Rogue gently break off their kiss and open their eyes.
Rogue looked at him as the euphoric feel wears off and she's left with what she absorbed from Logan as he falls to his knees from kissing her and Rogue is left realizing she just tongued one of her teachers. "What… tha… fuck!"
Rogue and Logan quickly took to wiping off their mouths. What the hell was that? Thank god for his healing factor. She would probably be dead right now if it was anyone else.
Logan got to his feet. "I don't know."
Rogue nodded in understanding but she was still grossed out. Her first kiss came from her 'art' teacher. "Let's get the hell out of here."
"Faster would be better. We'll ask Buffy's friends about the school." Logan agreed running with her down the steps. Logan felt his stomach curdle in disgust. He kissed Rogue. What's next groping Jean in the broom closet? "Stripe, there's a lot of my past best left forgotten. Let's add one more."
"Agreed" Rogue said as she nearly knocked the front door off its hinges when she opened the door.
Xander sat and looking at a paint file on Willow's computer screen she borrowed from the hospital with seven different women on it as Willow clicks print sending it to the hospital printer.
Willow walked up and took the paper. "OK so one of these seven women are responsible for making Buffy…Buffy."
Xander looked at them. "There is no way three of those woman are doctors. Too beautiful."
Willow looked at the paper. "Well Joyce gave me name of doctors, I make list, job done on my part."
Willow and Xander watched as the elevator opened and Logan came out with Rogue.
Rogue looked at the two. "What tha heck is wrong with your school?"
Xander shrugged innocently. "It's a school."
"If ever a school there was." Willow added.
Logan glared at the two. "I'm not in any mood to be lied to now tell me what happens at that school."
Xander looked at Rogue's shirt as his eyes widen. "Is that blood?"
"No" Rogue replied not sure what to say about being shot off a balcony by your teacher.
Beast smiled seeing the doors to the blackbird open again this time Professor Xavier enter it. "Something troubling you professor?"
Charles shakes his head. "I just had a run in with an old friend Hank. So what can you tell me about Ms. Summers?"
Beast shrugged. "Well, I can tell you the person that made her was brilliant."
Charles looked at her DNA samples in somewhat awe. "Or a genetic lunatic that experiments on mutants"
"Fine line between brilliance and insanity." Beast countered.
Xavier looked at him for a moment before continuing. "How about Ms. Summers any trace of a biological mother?"
Beast looked at the professor not sure how to say this. "Well I did find a match… as a matter of fact I found it three times."
Charles looked at him. "Why wasn't I notified of this?"
Hank smiled and brought it up on screen. "Because somehow, I doubt I'm right."
Charles looked at the screen as his eyes widened no way that is right but it is good for a laugh. "You got this result three times."
Charles looked at the screen again and laughed seeing the picture of Logan.
Sheila went up to Willow's room and to her surprise found her daughter gone. "Willow? Willow?"
She ran downstairs and checked around but no Willow. She checked the answering machine and saw a message so she hit the button. "Mom don't freak out but Buffy is in the hospital and I'm staying with her until she wakes up OK bye."
Sheila quickly grabbed her coat and got in the car driving to the hospital in a frenzy. The one time she needs Willow home she's out with those friends at all hours of the night.
Sheila quickly came into the waiting room and saw her daughter with Xander. "Willow get your coat, we're going home."
Willow shakes her head. "No, I'm not leaving until I know Buffy is OK."
Sheila looked at Logan and a bunch of other kids and judging from the sunglasses at night look at least some of them are mutants. She looks back to her daughter. "Willow, we're leaving now."
"No" Willow insisted. "I'm glad you're looking into my life, but I'm not leaving a friend when she's hurt."
Sheila quickly grabbed her arm. "Willow I said we're leaving right now and I mean it."
"I SAID NO!" Willow shouted as all the metal in the waiting room came to life and floated.
Logan looked down and this is the worst night of his life. Not only has he kissed a student he's now been held in the air twice by a teenager. "Red, think you can put me down."
Willow shyly smiled as she calmed down and Logan dropped along with the rest of the metal. "I'm sorry."
Willow looked over to her mother and saw the fear in her eyes. "Mom"
"Stay back" Shiela ordered.
Willow swallowed the pain of that to deal with this. Her mother is now afraid of her it's not like she asked for this. "Mom"
"You have the same powers." Sheila said weakly. "Just like… just like…"
Everyone turned around and spotted Professor Xavier coming into the room in his wheelchair.
Willow looked at her mother now more confused then ever in her entire life. "Dad can move metal, how come you never told me dad can move metal."
Charles swallowed briefly he wasn't expecting that he really should read minds more openly. "You never told her have you?"
"Of course not!" Sheila answered. "I never wanted to be reminded of anything about that man again."
"Mom, what is going on?" Willow asked seeing these two obviously know each other. "And what do you mean you never told me about my father, dad is at home." She sees the look of fear in her eyes. "Isn't he?"
Sheila nodded. "Of course Ira Rosenberg is your father."
"Then why did he say like my father."
Sheila rushed the professor but was held back by Kurt and Scott. "Damn you Charles"
"Mom, please just tell me. Whatever it is I can take it believe me I've had a lot of bombshells dropped on me this year. So please, just tell me what's going on." Willow asked as she moved closer but her mother backed away.
Sheila looked away and started. "Before I get started just know that Ira Rosenberg is your father, in every way that matters."
Willow sat down on the chair this whole thing is weird to her. "Go on."
"I was young, I was stupid." Sheila explained. "So naïve I always saw the good in everyone. I met a man named Erik Lehnsherr. He was older but I didn't care he seemed like a good man. It was through him that I learned humans were evolving into something else. He was so different then anyone my age and his eyes held so much suffering. I foolishly thought I could take his pain away."
Willow rolled her eyes hearing her mom's version of Buffy and Angel. "Let me guess after a while he was different."
Sheila silently nodded her head. "I wasn't exactly at my best, looking back now the whole affair was a mistake with the exception of the one good thing that came out of it, you."
"You were the other woman?" Willow asked slowly shrinking.
Sheila nodded. "Not my proudest moment, but I was in love, if he was willing to stray, why not." Sheila swallowed deeply if anything this should get her to see how dangerous these people are and get her to come home. "I was pregnant at the time when James over there and his friend Victor were still followers of and friends of your fathers and helped me meet up with him."
Scott looked to Logan kind of upset that he would hide the fact he was with the brotherhood and not tell them and more importantly. "Jim?"
Logan looked down and rolled his eyes. "Look slim, there's a lot of my life I don't know about. And some of the stuff I do I wished I didn't so I wouldn't put it past old me to be one of Magneto's flunkees."
Willow turned back to her mother. "Where did they take you?"
"A small town in Florida" Sheila answered. "Magneto and Charles were both there trying to help a very powerful mutant, A boy no older then her." She points at Kitty. "He could give and take life with his own hands. By the time we got there he had accidentally killed his own parents because he didn't know how to control it. The police arrested him because no one else for miles. We met the boy and he was a nice kid just scared, he even gave me advice on morning sickness."
Sheila took a moment and continued. "We went to work on his release but while we were setting up his freedom he was attacked by another cellmate he panicked and he killed him by touching him. When the police realized what they had wasn't human, they reacted in the worst way. They tied one end of rope to his legs and the other end to the back of their car and did the same thing with his arms and another car. They stretched him to death they said he wasn't human so they broke no law."
Willow held her mouth open appalled. "Why was there never any story about this?"
"Because until a minute ago the only people still alive who knew were me, James, Victor, and your father." Sheila replied before continuing. "Your father didn't say anything he just walked to the bank and got twenty dollars in quarters. And with twenty dollars your father killed every man and woman that was in that police station. After that I didn't care what happened to him, Charles or any other mutant, the only thing that mattered to me was keeping you away from him. I came home and I had you, our little angel, and the one good thing that came out of that relationship."
"He knew you were pregnant, why couldn't he come see me?" Willow asked.
"He tried shortly after you were born." Sheila answered. "But I didn't want anything to do with him and when it quickly became apparent that he wouldn't leave, I told him you were stillborn and then I threw him out back to his wife. Changed our names because I had no family besides you and never looked back. I didn't want you raised in such violence."
Willow looked at her upset. "What is your real name, god what is my real name?"
"Willow Rosenberg" Sheila answered.
"Fine, then what is my birth name? What is yours?" Willow asked.
Sheila looked away and frowned. "My name was Susanna Dane and you were Lorna."
Willow looked at her for a moment before she turned and ran out of the room. Xander held up his arm to stop Sheila from going after her. And he thought his parents were screwed up. "Don't, let me talk to her."
"I'm her mother." Sheila said.
"You're also the one who's been lying to her, her entire life and cutting her off as she got older. I'm guessing that's why you started disappearing when she got older you were afraid she'd start having powers." Xander didn't say a word and just left her in thought.
Sheila wiped a tear from her eye not believing this got out. She turned and looked at the person responsible. "God damn you Charles." She quietly walked out.
The X-men and Joyce watched as a nurse came out in a smile. "Mrs. Summers."
Joyce quickly shot up. "Is Buffy awake?"
The nurse nodded. "She's up for visitors but only two at a time she needs to take it easy."
Joyce looked at her nephew as Scott got to his feet and the two walked for Buffy's room.
Nick Fury was seething but to his surprise he sees they have a call coming from Wolverine of all people. He gives the order for it to be put through. "Come to your senses Logan."
Logan snorts on the other line. "Actually today just gets more and more confusing. I have a list of seven people here that I want you to look into."
"Just send us the names Logan." Fury answered curiously Logan must need to know something really bad to come to him.
Logan wasn't sure how to phrase this. "You might want to have the Doc look into Sunnydale. Me and another mutant were possessed by ghosts and a mutant went nuts with its powers and no one even batted an eyebrow. Something isn't right about this place and considering ghosts I doubt it's Hydra."
"We'll talk to Steven." Fury ended the call and walked into the laboratory and sees Captain America in his ice coffin he was forced into by the super soldier tearing him apart in World War 2. "You'll wake up soon old friend, I just hope you're ready for much the world has gone and changed on you."
