Disclaimer: Once more . . .I OWN NOTHING HERE! Ranma 1/2 was created, written, and drawn by Rumiko Takahashi. Joss Whedon and his bunch are responsible for all characters, materials, and settings for Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Again--NOTHING! I OWN NOTHING HERE! IF YOU RECOGNIZE IT, IT'S NOT MINE!

Some time back I wrote a story, The Mustang and the Slayer, a Ranma 1/2 Halloween crossover. I thought about continuing the story, the aftermath of Halloween night--I even wrote a few drabbles hoping to spawn entire chapters from them, but nothing ever came out of that. The little drabbles and plot bunnies that did make it out of my head seemed too serious, or dark, for Ranma. Like this little thing I've put down . . .However, it's relatively complete, and rather then allow it to languish on my hard drive until I could connect it with something else, I've decided to publish it.

The drabble is about a blind duck, and a girl who had trouble finding her real name . . .

A demon learns not to judge by appearances.

Blind Fury

The creature with the body of a man, and literally wearing the face of a man, ran in desperate panic under a sultry LA moon. It ran through small streets, down narrow, fetid alleys; it climbed over chain link fences, unmindful of the barbwire tearing at it's flesh, and dropped down upon filled garbage cans and dumpsters, ignoring the vermin it scattered in its flight. Unheeding of the disintegrating Human mask, or ripped foul clothing it continued to run--Until it almost reached the mouth of an alley.

It skidded to a halt, and stared down in wide-eyed horror, knowing with absolute certainty the end to its existence was only some brief moments away.

Illuminated from behind by a street light, a small white duck stood firmly upon webbed feet; light kissing white feathers, and leaving a silvery, glowing sheen behind, surrounding the winged beast with a halo of pale light. Street light refracted back from the round lens over the fowl's eyes--And from the silvery blades the duck held between its wing feathers.

In his dying moments, as the sharp knives sunk through into important major organs and arteries, Ken could only experience shocked outraged at being killed, not by a towering hero--But by a damn . . .blind . . .little duck!

A soft, derisive "Quack!" towards the liquefying demonic remains, and Lily the Halloween cursed duck, rose up into the sky, towards the bright full moon, the sound of her flapping wings instantly muffled by the diffused night sounds of the City of Angels.

Rest in peace, Ricky, Lily thought sadly, Rest in peace . . .

No, it wasn't very funny, was it? In the story I was planning Lily obviously still goes to LA. However, instead of becoming just another homeless runaway, she finds a job as a cook in a Chinese restaurant. She still meets Ricky, and Ken still gets his claws into him, but this time around, Lily is the one who deals with Ken and his operation, not Buffy.

Ah, well . . .

Good-bye now! Thanks for reading!
