Author's Note 1: My muse decided that there were several ways this situation could be resolved, and I've been working on getting them written out, as time permits. Here's the first of them, which was suggested by my beta, Theo (Starway_Man). And yes, it is depressing, as you should fully expect if the events following the first chapter were in any way similar to what happened in canon.
Author's Note 2: Real Life has been kicking me in the stones repeatedly over the course of the past three months, and my wife has just had surgery for a tumor this week, so this particular epilogue is quite reflective of my mindset at the moment. I do have another epilogue I have been working on that isn't nearly as Joss-like, but it's on hold at the moment, and I have no idea when it'll be posted.
