Xander hesitated as he approached Giles, "Hey Giles, I've been doing some research on your car."
Giles only response was to raise his eyebrow, jokes about his car was a constant source of amusement for his charges, but normally Xander worked with more of an audience. At this point the library was deserted.
"It really is a classic, they used to race them in Europe." Xander hesitated and then continued in a babble, "So I need to do a project for auto shop and I've found a source for some parts upstate. I think I could get it running really good without it costing much probably even into racing shape."
Taking a minute to decipher the babble, Giles smiled warmly at Xander. "Thank you Xander, but before we plan it I need you to answer a question." Xander nodded and Giles continued, "As normal humans we face many disadvantages so one of the greatest measures of success is survival. I use my car to drive Buffy to various situations, where it is possible for me to be injured and unable to drive back. Are my chances for survival enhanced at all by Buffy operating a vehicle that is in racing shape?"
Xander's expressions ranged from revelation, horror and then humor, "I'll just put this book back in the stacks then."
