The Last Temptation of Buffy

Dawn began to move forward, intending to leap from the tower and close the portal with her death, but Buffy stopped her.

“Dawn, the hardest thing in this world is to live in it,” Buffy said. “Be brave. Live. For me.” She turned and began to run along the platform. Then something below, in the distance, caught her eye.

A large illuminated sign in a department store window. ‘Grand Shoe Sale Starts Tomorrow! Massive Reductions on Designer Brands!’

Buffy stopped, stared at the sign, and then went back to Dawn.

“Change of plan,” Buffy said. “I’ve reconsidered. You can jump.”
