It was a typical late night in Sunnydale and its graveyards. Buffy and Clem were walking back through one of them, idly discussing various subjects mainly involving Spike in some form, although of course, never actually coming out and mentioning him by name. Turning a corner towards the crypt that Clem was currently sharing with Spike, they were met with the sight of two people standing in front of them, patiently waiting.

The first was a typical all American man, with dark hair and dressed in black clothing. The other was an old Asian gentleman wearing bright yellow robes. They both bowed, and the first man said “So, are you this Slayer girl we’ve been waiting for?”

The Asian man behind him rolled his eyes at this, slapped him on the back of his head and exclaimed “You stupid student! Speak properly to The Slayer! Such a long lived Slayer must be especially proficient and deserves your respect!”

It was the first man’s turn to roll his eyes and speak in a deliberate tone “Fine. Greetings. My name is Remo, and I have come to spar with the Slayer. Do I have the pleasure of meeting her?”

Buffy snorted. “Sparring? Fair enough. Let’s get this over, shall we?” She bowed to the Asian gentleman, adding “If you will excuse me for a moment.”

He settled back, his arms folded, but smiling at her. “See, Remo? The Slayer respects her elders.”

Clem, on the other hand, was quite lost by now. And firmly aware of the time. “If you don’t mind, Buffy, I’ve got some watching to catch up on” he said and wandered off towards his crypt.

“No worries, Clem!” said Buffy happily, as she launched a low jumping kick towards Remo. “I’ll catch up with you later, just as soon as I kick this guy’s ass!” she added, following straight up with her trailing leg, and knocking Remo to the ground.

The Asian gentleman shook his head with a disgusted look on his face, and followed along beside Clem. Turning to Clem, he spoke with a happy note in his voice “I fear my student will soon be put out of my misery. My name is Chiun and I am the current Master of Sinanju.”

Clem blinked, and then decided to put it out of his mind for the moment. Opening the door to his crypt, he turned to Chiun “So, like, you want to come in for a bit? I imagine those two will be going at it for a bit still.” As if to emphasize this, a thud remarkably similar to that of a human body hitting a tombstone echoed around the graveyard, and Chiun winced. “That would be most kind of you, yes.”

Inside, Clem pushed over his best chair for his new guest, and took the second best one for himself. Setting up the TV hurriedly after checking his watch, he offered Chiun a beer (which he was somewhat relieved Chiun turned down) and sighed happily as the familiar sound of the Passions theme came out of the TV.

“Ah… America” sighed Chiun happily. “Their sole cultural addition to the world is soap operas. And that alone is almost enough to forgive them everything else.”

Clem nodded eagerly. “Never miss a show myself. Buffy and I are always talking about what happened in the last episode.”

Chiun bowed his head respectfully. “Truly, she is indeed the most open-minded Slayer in years. To actually take a member of the demon races as her Watcher. Possibly this is the secret of her longevity.”

Clem frowned, and was about to explain that he wasn’t her Watcher, but the start of Passions distracted him. And so they continued watching for the next hour, only interrupted by the occasional thud and bashing noises coming from outside.
