//One thing. I don’t know why
It doesn’t even matter how hard you try
Keep that in mind. I designed this rhyme
To explain in due time
All I know
Time is a valuable thing
Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings
Watch it count down to the end of the day
The clock ticks life away\\\\
Ok, so maybe Ron wasn't the guy for her. Maybe Harry wasn't either.
Hermione sat at the dance alone. There last dance as students. Last year. Last dance. Hopefully last heartbreak. But Hermione doughted that. She figured that there was going to be may more heartbreaks. And she didn't know if she could handle it.
Draco stood there. Stupid slut Pansy left him. For Goyle. Goyle! Out of all people! Draco shook his head and growled. He hated them all. None of them treated him right. They only liked him because of his money. And because of his father.
"I hate school."
//It’s so unreal
Didn’t look out below
Watch the time go right out the window
Trying to hold on but didn’t even know
Wasted it all just to
Watch you go
I kept everything inside and even though I tried it all fell apart
What it meant to me will eventually be a memory of a time when I tried
So hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn't even matter\\\\
Hermione turned and saw Harry dancing with Ginny and Ron dancing with Parvati. She turned away and held back the tears. She patted her hair down and smoothed out the dark green dress she had on. She stood up and went to leave but someone got in her way.
"Where are you going, Granger?"
"Professor Snape. I was just leaving."
"Why?" Hermione didn't know why. So she just stood there. For once, she didn't know what to say. Snape smiled. "The punch bowl is that way." He pointed. "Forget about him."
Hermione nodded and walked over to the punch bowl.
//One thing. I don’t know why
It doesn’t even matter how hard you try
Keep that in mind. I designed this rhyme
To remind myself how
I tried so hard\\\\
Draco got up and walked over to the punch bowl. He stopped. Granger? Oh no. Draco went to turn to go back to his chair but Professor McGonagall blocked his path.
"Professor."
"Mr. Malfoy. Go talk to someone other than you're house."
Draco turned and started to head toward the punch bowl. His crush on Hermione Granger, since second year, was coming back to him with every step he took.
Hermione glanced up and saw Draco Malfoy on his way over to her. She nearly dropped the cup of punch. She closed her eyes to hide him away from her. But, she could still see his bleach blonde hair, those grey sad eyes, and his sneer behind her ye lids. She opened them and saw him standing there.
//In spite of the way you were mocking me
Acting like I was part of your property
Remembering all the times you fought with me
I’m surprised it got so (far)
Things aren’t the way they were before
You wouldn’t even recognize me anymore
Not that you knew me back then
But it all comes back to me
In the end\\\\
"Granger." Draco stated as he grabbed a cup.
"Malfoy." Hermione said breathlessly. When did she realize she had a crush on Malfoy? Second or third year. Hermione shook her head. What does it matter? He'll never like her. "How are you?"
Draco looked up. She was talking to him? "Great. I guess. You?"
"Ok." Hermione sighed.
"Why ok?" Draco asked.
//You kept everything inside and even though I tried it all fell apart
What it meant to me will eventually be a memory of a time when I
I tried so hard\\\\
"Ron." Hermione turned to look at Ron. "He doesn't like me like I like him."
Draco groaned when Hermione said that. So, she liked Weasel. Bloody Fantastic.
Hermione turned to Draco.
"I thought you were going with Pansy?"
"I was. She took Goyle instead."
"I'm sorry."
"It's ok."
"No." Hermione turned back to Draco. "I'm sorry for hitting you."
Draco grinned. "No problem, Hermione."
//And got so far
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter\\\\
Hermione stopped. He said her name. Her REAL name.
"Draco, I have something to tell you."
Draco shook his head.
"Let me tell you something first, Hermione."
"Alright."
"I've been wanting to do this since second year."
"Wha-"
Hermione was caught of by Draco. By his lips.
//I’ve put my trust in you
Pushed as far as I can go
And for all this
There’s only one thing you should know\\\\
Draco pulled back. Hermione was smiling.
"Draco."
"Yes, Hermione?"
"You won't hurt me like Ron did, will you?" Hermione asked.
"I don't think I'll ever hurt you again. You're worth so much more than you think. And I just realized, I want to be worth everything to you."
Hermione smiled.
"You are. It just took me a while to understand it."
//I’ve put my trust in you
Pushed as far as I can go
And for all this
There’s only one thing you should know\\\\
Draco lend Hermione out to the dance floor. He twirled her before he brought her into his chest. Hermione rested her head on his chest and smiled.
"When did this happen?" Hermione asked.
"Second year. When Ron cursed himself to throw up slogs."
Hermione laughed.
"When did this happen for you?" Draco pulled back and looked at Hermione.
"Second year. When you came out in the Quidditch clothes."
"So, about the same time."
"Yeah." Hermione rested her head on Draco's chest again.
//I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter\\\\
Snape walked up to Minerva. She smiled at him and then turned back to the dance floor.
"Good work, Professor." Snape told Minerva.
"You, also. We did this together. It just took longer than we thought."
"I still don't like the idea of Hermione Granger and Draco Malfoy."
"You'll get over it. They have liked each other a very long time, Severus. I didn't like the fact the Lily Evans and James Potter. And looked how well they came out."
Snape rolled his eyes. He held his hand out.
"Dance with me, Minerva."
//I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter\\\\
Snape and Minerva danced on the dance floor. Next to Draco and Hermione. Who seemed to be very happy about the way things turned out.
