Summary: The Dementors cause some problems at Hogwarts, prompting a call for help...

Notes: Okay... Buffy and the gang are 17, as is Oliver Wood. Faith is 16, Fred, George, Katie, Lee, and Angelina are 15. Alicia is 14. Harry and the gang are 13. Also, I realize that in book 1, it referred to Marcus Flint as a sixth year, but he also appeared in book three being referred to as a seventh year, so I'm using him as a seventh year in this fic.

So let's make this night be our best mistake...-Story of the Year, Swallow the Knife... }

Oliver Wood sat at the Gryffindor table, his gaze moving over to the somewhat frightened-looking first years, vaguely thinking about how terribly *young* they all looked. Had he really been that small when he'd started his first year at Hogwarts? He knew he must have been, but it was still a bit hard to believe.

"Have a good summer, Wood?" a voice to his left spoke up, and he turned his head to smile at Alicia Spinnett, one of the Chasers for the Gryffindor Quidditch team. Oliver was the Keeper, as well as the captain, of the team. He was also the only seventh year on the team, which meant he was probably the only one sitting here thinking about the end of his time at Hogwarts. His last chance to win the Quidditch cup.

Forcing himself to pay attention to the girl next to him, Oliver shrugged. "It was all right, I guess. I worked out some new plays-"

"But of course you did. Because if you didn't do that, you wouldn't be our beloved Quidditch captain," Angelina Johnson, a fifth year student and a Chaser like Alicia, said with a smirk. Angelina, though not as gung-ho about Quidditch as he was, would more than likely be the one to take his place as captain the next year when he was gone.

"Beloved... And occasionally severely hated," Katie Bell, another fifth year and the third Chaser on the team, stated dryly. Fred and George Weasley, the team's two Beaters wisely said nothing... Though perhaps that was because the twins were up to something. They always seemed to be up to something. The seventh and final member of the team, a third year named Harry Potter, was the only one that wasn't sitting with the rest of the team, and a quick glance up the table told Oliver that the thirteen year old boy was seated with his fellow third years, most notably his best friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Ron was the younger brother of Fred and George, Gryffindor house being a bit of a tradition in their family - including older brother Percy and younger sister Ginny, they had five in the house currently - and Hermione was a Muggle-born witch, meaning she had non-magical parents. Oliver remembered quite well some of the treatment and insults the poor girl had been subjected to because of her heritage, and he found himself very glad that she'd been sorted into Gryffindor. True, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw were accepting of Muggle-born and those of half-blood as much as Gryffindor was, but the two houses didn't seem as capable of putting the Slytherins, the most intolerant purebloods Oliver had ever seen, in their place.

With a shake of his head, Oliver turned his attention back to his teammates. "Be careful, Bell, I may just be tempted to make practices even longer if you continue to tell me how much you hate me," he said good-naturedly, but Katie's eyes widened anyway.

"You wouldn't dare!"

"Sorry, Wood, you might have a revolt on your hands if you did that," Fred spoke up, then frowned as Albus Dumbledore, the headmaster of Hogwarts, stood up to make his customary speech at the start of the year. All the new students had been sorted, the first years all huddled at the head of the table and looking at the older students with a mixture of awe and concern, and it was almost time for the welcoming feast to begin... As soon as Dumbledore said his words. Oliver, being a seventeen year old boy that occasionally ate everything in sight, hoped the elderly headmaster kept his words short and sweet-

"The Dementors of Azkaban? You mean that wasn't just on the train? They're *staying* here?" Katie managed to gasp as Dumbledore made the announcement, the slender blonde Chaser's eyes wide with something like fear. Oliver glanced quickly towards where Harry sat with his friends, noting that the trio were staring at each other in shock, and Wood frowned. He'd heard that something had happened with Harry and the Dementor on the train to Hogwarts, and from the look on Harry's face, he had to assume it was true.

"Dementors at a *school?* All because of Sirius Black. Oh, I hope they catch him soon," Alicia said, biting her lip and shuddering slightly.

"They're too bloody dangerous to have at a school. Dad had to go to Azkaban once as part of his work for the Ministry, and he was white as a sheet when he came back," George said, a frown on his face, and the frown on his face got deeper as Dumbledore continued to speak. Oliver made himself concentrate on the words of the headmaster.

"Also, as usual, the Dark Forest is forbidden to all students, even more so this year than in the past. It seems the Dementors have somehow attracted other dark creatures, and we are having a few problems. Therefore, we have contacted the Watchers Council, which as many of you know is a Muggle organization that has a great amount of knowledge about dark and magical creatures, and they have agreed to come to our aid," Dumbledore stated, and Angelina looked at the others, her eyes wide.

"The Watchers Council? Don't they-"

"Therefore, we will be having a team of experts arrive from the Council tomorrow," Dumbledore continued. "Including two Slayers. Now let's tuck in and eat," the old man said, ignoring the gasp that rose from the students at his final words.
