Mission Impossible music wafted from the living room into the kitchen doorway. Jack took a swig of his beer looking out of the darkened doorframe watching the three ladies in the other room. Thunder crashed outside in the distance, a typical late August thunder-bumper moving across the Colorado Rockies, drowned out by the sound of giggling teenagers cooing over how hot Tom Cruise was, or if Pierce Brosnon as 007 could take Tom’s character in a true spy scenario. From Jack O’Neill’s days in the Black Ops, he knew that neither 007 nor Tom’s character Ethan Hunt, would survive a real life situation. However, Jack was glad that neither of his girls would experience the true realities of that dark and heartless world. They each had seen enough in their short lifetimes.
Jack wondered for a moment when he had consciously started thinking of them both as ‘his girls’ but quickly dismissed the musing. It didn’t matter when in the last few months it happened, it was something good, and that’s all that mattered to the sarcastic general. His gaze drifted from the girls sprawled out on the floor in front of the TV to the woman sitting on the couch. Curly blond hair showed a few gray hairs, a soft motherly smile that could put anyone at ease, and a heart to match. Before Jack met her, he hadn’t given a second thought to really dating, or even caring about anyone as deeply as he now felt for Joyce.
A thought began forming in Jack’s mind as the girls moved on to yet another spy movie in their ‘All-night-weekend-before-school Movie Marathon’. No more sleeping late for those two, summer was coming to a close, and Monday would begin the new school year. The girls were a year behind their respective classes because of everything that had happened to them both. Dawn would start as a freshman and Cassie a sophomore. Jack still didn’t understand how Buffy, Dawn’s older sister, had died exactly, but having lost his own son almost 10 years ago, he knew how painful talking about it could be. He figured that when Joyce and Dawn were ready, they would tell him the whole story.
If they ever told him or not, wasn’t an issue. All that mattered was that each of them knew how short and precious life could be. So that night, Jack O’Neill began to make plans. He would have to make a phone call to a friend of his that worked in the intelligence field.
Joyce felt herself being watched. Turning around on the couch she spied Jack standing at the doorway, his mouth in a tight lipped grin, signaling that he was up to something. Looking at him curiously, Joyce mouthed ‘what?’ O’Neill’s smile only grew wider as he shook his head and mouthed back ‘nothing’.

Dawn tossed her backpack into the chair by her desk and sank onto her bed, completely unenthused with the amount of homework she was expected to do over the weekend. Deciding that TV and some soda would be best before she started in on the work, the high school freshman pushed herself off the bed; just before leaving her room she noticed a packet on the floor. It appeared to be a plain white envelope except for the words “Top Secret” printed in bold red letters on the front, underneath in black ink was written “For Agent Summers Eyes Only”. Thoroughly confused, Dawn opened the envelope to find a neatly typed letter with a CIA header, a black ball point pen with CIA marked in gold colored lettering on the side, a plastic tool for measuring ring sizes and small blank notebook with “Field Notes” stenciled on the cover.
Her eyes grew to the size of saucers as she read the enclosed letter.
Dear Agent Summers:
Your unique skills have been called upon for a mission of the utmost priority, should you choose to accept it. Please read and memorize the following before destroying this document to keep it from falling into enemy parental unit hands.
Mission Name: Operation Proposal
Your Codename: Mallrat
Enemy Codename: Mom
Accomplice’s Codenames: Taxi Driver and Mom’s Boyfriend
Mission Objectives: A) To obtain ring size and B) work in tandem with Agent Fraiser (codename Taxi Driver) in locating a suitable gem and setting.
Objective A is to be carried out while the ‘Mom’ is distracted tonight by a hypnotizing cinema and dinner with Mom’s Boyfriend. You are to proceed into ‘Moms’ room and secretly obtain access into her jewelry box, be careful not to disturb anything, as the jewelry box might be booby-trapped. When you have gained access, locate a ring that ‘Mom’ has worn recently and use the measuring tool provided to get the correct size of ‘Moms’ left ring finger. Record your findings in the provided notebook. Leave ‘Moms’ room as quickly as possible after gaining the intel.
Objective B is to be carried out on the following day. Contact Taxi Driver for further information and locations.
Once you have memorized this, destroy it. Warning: You cannot burn this document, as ‘Mom’ may become suspicious at the smell of smoke and not be as easily distracted tonight as planned. (Plus it could land you in big trouble kido!)
Signed, Mom’s Boyfriend
P.S. If there is any problem with these orders please contact ‘Mom’s Boyfriend’ with reason.
The young brunette almost screamed with joy. She really liked the guy her mom was currently dating and quickly stuffed the paper in with her schoolwork just as she heard her mother’s car pull into the drive.

Joyce Summers eyed her youngest daughter wearily. “Honey, are you sure? I mean it’s Friday night, I thought we could stay up late and spend some quality time together eating ice-cream and cookies and watching movies.”
“I’m sure mom, I got some homework I want to get done, then I was gonna call Cassy and we were thinking about going out and doing some stuff tomorrow,” Dawn answered in her usual teenage fashion. Before Joyce could question her daughter, the phone rang. Dawn bounced on the balls of her feet nervously as her mother answered it.
“Well, that was Jack, you want to go out to dinner and a movie with us?”
Dawn rolled her eyes, “Mom, I’m fine, you guys go have fun and I SO don’t want any details afterwards.”
Joyce watched Dawn for a few minutes, “If I didn’t know better, I’d say you were up to something. Are you sure you don’t want to go?”
“You always think I’m ‘up to something’,” Dawn whined, “Just go, I’ll be fine throwing the wild, unpredictable and totally destructive party while you’re gone. I promise to have all the beer cans and cigarettes cleaned up before you get back.”
“Uh-huh,” Joyce nodded with a smirk, “Well, sweetie, I’m going to get ready. If you change your mind…”
“I’ll let you know,” Dawn quipped before bounding down the hall to her room.

A couple hours later Dawn was on the phone with her best friend, “So… Agent ‘Taxi Driver’, “ She laughed, “God, could he have chosen any lamer codenames?”
Cassandra Fraiser chuckled, “Hello, he’s like old, and not that imaginative, but he did come up with the whole ‘spy’ thing on his own, you got to give him credit there.”
“Yeah, I know, so what are we supposed to be doing for this ‘mission’ tomorrow?”
“Well, I’ll come by, pick you up and we start hitting the local jewelry stores and malls to find a few different selections that your mom might like, and write down things like the store name and the setting style and stuff then I give the notebook to Jack tomorrow night. He’s planning on taking a day off this next week to go look at what we picked out and choose one.”
“You know, since he’s your legal guardian, when my mom says yes, we’ll be almost like sisters!”
“Oh my god, you’re right!” Cassy squealed, “That would be WAY too cool!”
Although Dawn smiled, a lone tear threatened to fall down her cheek as she glanced to her bedside table. A picture on it showing the three original Summers women happy and together before Sunnydale. Into the phone she said quietly, “It’ll be nice to have a sister again…”

Tara and Willow sat close to each other on the couch in Xander’s Apartment. Willow carefully cradled a small clay jar in her hands.
“The Urn of Osiris,” Tara whispered, gazing at the piece her lover was holding.
Willow glanced up and Anya a hint of disbelief in her voice, “You really found it.”
Sitting down across from the auburn haired witch, the former vengence demon nodded, “Yeah. It wasn't easy. I went through every supplier the Magic Box has.”
Willow looked up nervously, “You used a Magic Box supplier? What if Giles finds out?”
”He's too busy not leaving to pay attention to me. Besides, I ended up getting it on eBay,” Anya explained with a shrug.
Tara scrunched her face skeptically; “You found the last known Urn of Osiris on eBay?”
“Yeah, from this desert gnome in Cairo. He drove a really hard bargain, but I finally got him to throw in a limited edition Backstreet Boys lunchbox for a…” Anya was interrupted by a conspiratorial cough from Xander, “…a friend.”
(A/N: Warning: For those reading this fic for the ‘fluffiness’ be forewarned, although there will still be some fluff, the plot line is going to be heading into a more angsty and deeper direction from here on out with the Buffy and SG universe’s coming together slightly more. I will be trying to stick with some major events from S6 Buffy, but they will be AU since Dawn isn’t in Sunnydale. Also, if you haven’t seen Season 6 Buffy, and don’t want to be spoiled, read on at your own risk.
