Summary: Evie Garland gets even more powers. These don't come from her
father.
Author's note: Takes place after Chosen in Buffy, and no real time
frame in Out of This World.
Evie Garland sat on the park bench, contemplating the dream that had
her here in the park, after midnight. It was perhaps the strangest
dream she had ever had. There were girls about her age, fighting
monsters that looked almost human, but with distorted faces. They would
shove sharp pointed sticks into the creatures chests, where the heart
would be in a human. The girls all appeared to be stronger than their
size should really account for. On top of that, she had more energy
than she was used to, and was quite a bit stronger and faster than
normal, with much better reflexes than she used to have.
She was interrupted from her musings by the strangest feeling. She
looked around, and found herself surrounded by a pack of about a dozen
creatures, just like those from her dream.
"What can I do for you guys?" she asked, trying to be friendly,
although she suspected that her gesture wouldn't really be
appreciated.
"Well," said the creature that appeared to be the leader, "You could
just sit there calmly while we drink all your blood, but I kind of
doubt you would do that for us."
"You're right," Evie replied. "However, I will give you a chance to
leave. If you refuse, you're toast before you can say another word."
"We outnumber you twelve to one," the leader replied confidently. "Even
a Slayer would think twice about those odds."
"Suit yourself," Evie replied, before bringing her fingertips together,
freezing time for the vampires.
She then gleeped up some pointed sticks, and shoved them into their
hearts. After staking the creatures, she unfroze time, and watched as
they all crumbled into dust.
I REALLY need to talk to dad about
this, Evie thought to herself, as she headed home. Maybe he knows what's going on here.
