Epilogue
~Two Months Later~
“Anyanka!” It was D’Hoffryn again. This time there was no pillar of fire, the other demon simply appeared next his employee. She was sitting on the beach. It was winter and the sand was deserted.
“Another complaint?” asked Anya, not even bothering to muster any fake concern.
“Miss Smith again,” replied the older demon. “She says your vengeance was innappropriate and that the man is actually happy.”
“She wished,” said Anya, turning to face her boss, “for someone to see Mr Grey for the pervert he is. I sent him a new secretary.”
“A Miss Holloway,” noted D’Hoffryn, glancing through his notebook. “They are now happily married.”
“She saw him for what he was,” explained the vengeance demon. “It’s not my fault she liked him for it.”
D’Hoffryn nodded. “I’ll send Miss Smith a memo. Wishes are non-refundable.”
When Anya looked around D’Hoffryn was gone. Maybe her time as a human teenager had made her soft but she liked the vengeance gig better when it wasn’t all boils and death. She smiled.
