2. The Proposal

Author's Note:

I'm in a really good mood today, because I saw the Rasmus yesterday! OH it was great. So, I decided to be nice and post a new chapter of The Nanny. I hope you enjoy and review!

Chapter Two: The Proposal

Willow woke up on Saturday at around ten o'clock. Buffy was right, the sleep had done wonders to her. She felt content and relaxed. Stretching, she stood up and went to the bathroom to take a shower and brush her teeth. When she came out into the living room, she saw that Buffy was awake already.

"Hey Buff." She greeted her, walking to the kitchen to make herself some breakfast.

"Hey Will. Sleep ok?"

"Like a baby. You?"

"Not really. I have to talk to you about something."

"Sure." Willow said, sitting down with her Cornflakes.

Buffy stood up from the couch and sat down across from Willow.

"Remember how I told you about having to baby sit my stepbrother's kids? Well, yesterday I kind of lost my nerve and told him I'm done. And, um, I have a favor to ask of you."

Willow nodded for her to continue.

"Um, his kids, two of them, they need tutoring in math and some other subjects. His daughter goes to Hemery; you'll probably have her in math. So, I was wondering if maybe you could tutor them after you get home from work?"

Willow frowned.

"What's the catch?"

"Damn, you know me too well. Ok, well, his kids are four, nine and fourteen. Their mom died two years ago. William's a workaholic. And well, the kids they need someone to cook for them and stuff like that. You don't have to clean or anything just, please, they're lonely. And I think they're sick of me by now."

"So let me get this straight. You want me to tutor them and be like they're nanny as well? And all of this on top of being a teacher?" she asked.

Buffy nodded.

"Oh, Buffy, I'm not sure I'll be able to handle it all. I mean being a teacher; it requires a lot of work. I have to prepare for classes, mark papers, mark tests. I mean, it's not that I don't want to, I just think it's a bit too much." Willow said, clearing away her bowl and sitting back down across from Buffy.

She looked at Buffy, her best friend together with Xander and Cordelia. She saw the lost look on her face, the sadness in her eyes, together with concern for her stepbrother's children. She clearly cared a lot for them. And they had no mother. And their father was a workaholic.

Willow knew what it was like to have workaholic parents. Her own parents were never home, always away on business trips and things like that. Her worst memory from her childhood was being alone. Her own mother didn't notice that she had cut her hair until four months afterwards. It had hurt. And Buffy was her best friend. She couldn't do this to her. Or to the kids.

She sighed. She hated having to think rationally all the time.

"OK. I'm not guaranteeing anything, but I can give it a try. See how it works out. But if I don't have time to prepare for lessons, then I'm sorry, but I'll leave. Those are my terms."

Buffy smiled a huge smile and clapped her hands.

"Oh, Willow! Thank you so much! You have no idea how much this means to me!" she cried, hugging her over the table. Willow smiled.

She could tell at that moment, that no matter what, she probably wouldn't leave the nanny/tutoring job.

she thought.

They spent the rest of the day talking. Buffy told her all about the children, but didn't actually mention their names. Just their age, what they like to do and things like that.

The next day, they went to meet Willow's new boss, Buffy's stepbrother. Buffy knocked on the door, even though she had a key. The door was opened by what Willow presumed must be William.

As soon as she laid eyes on him, Willow knew that she was a goner. This man was just too good to be true. His eyes were a deep-piercing blue. His cheekbones were very pronounced. His hair was dyed blonde, to an almost white color. Her eyes traveled down his body. He was wearing a loose shirt and some jeans. Through the shirt she could tell that he worked out. His biceps was visible. And the jeans were just.. Well… yummy. She gulped and forced herself to look back into his eyes. He had, obviously, noticed her checking him out, because he was smirking at her in a teasing, flirtatious manner. She felt her blood boil.

"Hey Will. We're here. This is Willow, my best friend. Willow, this is William, my stepbrother." Buffy introduced them.

"Hi. Nice to meet you." Willow said, stretching out her hand.

"Pleasure's all mine, pet." He answered, shaking her hand. "Please, come in."

He stepped back and Willow and Buffy walked inside. Buffy sighed a breath of relief; at least he was being nice. Willow took in the front part of the house. To the right was a doorway, which probably led into the dining room or the kitchen, she wasn't sure. To her left was the living room. And in front of her were the stairs that went upstairs and a hall, which maybe led into a garden.

William took them into the living room and indicated that they sit down.

"Can I get you anything to drink?" he asked, as they settled down on the couch.

"No thank you. I love your house. The kids must love the size of these rooms. Kids love space."

William chuckled.

"Yes, I suppose they do. Do you have any kids?"

"Me? Oh, no. Not yet. But I hope I will some day." Willow answered, looking around.

William watched her. She was a very beautiful woman, that's for sure. Was she his type though? He caught Buffy's eye. She rolled her eyes at him. She probably knew what he was thinking. He just put an innocent expression on his face, as if asking: What?

"So, now that you’re here, why don’t you tell me something about yourself?” He suggested.

Willow had been looking around the room, but now turned to him and smiled.

“Sure. I’m 28 years old. I graduated from NYU two years ago. I graduated from Math and computer studies. After that I moved here, where I got a job at the Pizza Palace as a waitress. I worked the day shifts and then I tutored kids of all ages in math in the evenings and the weekend. And I just got accepted at Hemery. I'm a new math teacher." She finished.

William nodded.

"Can you cook?"

Willow nodded.

"Yes. My grandmother taught me and I took cooking lessons in college."

He looked again at Buffy, who was eyeing him thoughtfully.

"Well, I guess there's not much more to discuss then. If you want this job, you can have it. Buffy here doesn't fancy helping me anymore, so I'm in need of some help."

Willow frowned a bit. He had just insulted his stepsister.

"Yes, I'll take it. I can start tomorrow; I can come by straight after school. If that's alright with you?" she asked.

William nodded.

"Well, I'm glad that's settled. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to work. I'm sorry but the kids are not here. I think they went to the mall. It was nice meeting you, Willow. And I'm sure we'll see more of each other in the future." He said standing up and shaking her hand.

"Looking forward to it." Willow answered.

With that he turned around and left to go upstairs. The two girls got up and left. As they walked to their car, Willow thought back to their meeting. He had seemed like such a nice man, but he doesn't even know where his kids are and we live in LA.
