Crossover: BuffytheVampireSlayer/Stargate:Atlantis

Pairing: Dawn Summers/Aiden Ford (402)

Dawn had changed since the potentials had been called and the first defeated. She’d decided that she had better things to do, other than sit around being the slayer’s whiny little sister. So she’d studied. She’d learned. By the time she’d been approached by the US military about the project, she’d had a doctorate in languages and spoke twenty eight.

Buffy had said no, had said they needed her here, so she’d gone. Which was how she ended up in Atlantis on Christmas Eve, contemplating a dead ZPM.

So far, she’d blended in. She’d done what was asked of her, but nothing extraordinary. But she’d been quietly developing a hypothesis, about magic and technology. They had to be related. So, as an experiment to test the effects of key blood on a ZPM, she held the knife to her hand. One drop was all she wanted. One drop…

The door to her quarters slid open.

“Dr. Summers-”

The knife slipped.

The knife clattered to the floor, the blood hit crystal, and green light filled the small room.

When the light cleared, the ZPM was glowing, Dawn was cupping a growing handful of her own blood, and Lt. Aiden Ford still stood in the doorway, his mouth open in shock.

“What the hell was that?” he asked

“A bit more exuberant than I had planned.”

“A bit more exuberant…you’re bleeding”

“Smart boy,” she said. “We can’t afford to waste it, now can we? I need a cup or something”

A cup appeared on the table.

“Goddamned ancient technology” she said, as she led the blood from her hands drain into the cup. “See, this is what I don’t get. Technology, magic, what the hell’s the difference?

“Magic? Uh…”

“Did you have something you needed? Cuz if not…”

“You weren’t at the Christmas party,” he said.

“I noticed. So…?”

“I wondered what you were doing. I missed you”

“You? What?”

“I like you” he said.

“I like you too…”

“Um, but could we maybe do this later?” she asked, “Like when I’m not bleeding to death?”

Dawn smiled.
