Green Light

Dawn knew her sister hated it when she went out by herself. But they were just stopping in the city for a weekend, and she had wanted to see as many sights as she could. And she had seen them, even that weird building out in the middle of the bay.

But now she was at a club. Apparently a popular one, with all the people here. She was just enjoying her night off when she noticed an odd couple. She couldn’t see the girl well in the light but the guy was leading them out the backdoor. Dawn knew this behavior, it was bad news. As quickly as she could she made her way to the door and burst out into the alley behind. She started to wonder which direction they had gone when she heard them.

“I always wondered what your blood would taste like. Now I get to find out.”

Dawn was about to rush in and save the girl but then the darkness in the alley was eliminated by a ball of green light that appeared in the hand of the girl. And Dawn heard her respond.

“No, you will not be tasting any blood today. Nor ever again.” And the light erupted from her hand. And there was darkness again, but there was also one less figure.

Dawn finally got a clear look at the girl.

“Well I guess you didn’t need saving.”

The girl turned to look at Dawn.

“No, thank you though. That was a vampire right.”

“Yeah.”

“I thought so. Robin had told me of them, but I had never me tone before.”

“Oh. Wanna head back inside? I’m Dawn, by the way, Dawn Summers.”

“I would enjoy going back in. And I am called Starfire.”

As Dawn went back into the club with her new friend, she had one fleeting thought as she looked back at the pile of dust on the ground.

'I think I could come to like Jump City.'
