“Morning all. Thanks for making sure we got home safe from Herbert’s Jack.” Dawn settled into her chair at the briefing room table. They were all early for the morning briefing.
“No problem. Kid, you got us wondering, about a couple different things.” Jack pulled Daniels pad of paper over so he could read it.
Taking a deep breath, Dawn braced herself for what she had been expecting, the unavoidable questions. “I’m not guaranteeing that you’ll be happy with what I say, but I will answer.”
“Start easy, how come Jenn and Tiff weren’t hung-over like you were yesterday? I’ll bet that they drank more than you, yet you were the only one with a hang-over. We told Carter and T the highlights of our night.”
“Oh, you mean how you followed us? Actually I’m glad you did, ‘cause believe me drunk slayers are not fun. They may get plastered, but the alcohol goes right through their system.”
“Where did you get a mace, and why do you have one under your couch?” Daniel covertly attempted to pull his notes back in front of him.
“Xander gave it to me when I turned nineteen. He and Willow made it. It was under the couch because that's where it got shoved when the neighbors stopped by snoop on the new kid on the block. They claimed they needed a cup of sugar.” Dawn chuckled at the memory of her and Jenn scrambling to hide the weapons.
“DawnSummers you have mentioned slayers. Please explain.” Teal’c angled his head in curiosity.
“Powerful women, you do not want to be on their bad side. A word of warning, don’t kidnap them and go all lab rat on them to see what makes them tick. One slayer took out a whole military base, with a little help. That same slayer and an army of enraged slayers will rescue their sister, completely destroying any and every thing that gets in their way.”
“Are they the fighters in the war you mentioned yesterday morning?”
“Yeah, at one time they were controlled pawns, only one at a time in existence, who cared if they lived or died, they were dime a dozen, right?. We changed that, now there are hundreds of queens of the chess board. Alone or in groups they are a force to be reckoned with.” Dawn was trying to be honest, but vague and using general terms.
“Who is the enemy in what you called the good verses evil war?” Daniel queried, the war sounded almost mythological.
“Mostly vampires. Then the usual power hungry demons. They all want to take over and make it hell on earth.” Avoiding the faces of her teammates Dawn focused on the wood grains of the table. She knew that what she was saying sounded crazy, very possible even after all that the Stargate Command had seen. Before the next question could be brought up, a guard stepped into the room to announce there was a phone call for Dawn.
“Where can I answer it?” Jack pointed to the phone on the wall to answer Dawn. Pushing the blinking button she answered.
“Hello? Hi Buff. No. Not Gunna. But Buffy,…. Can we at least use him as bait? Alright, give me twenty minutes to get to the gate. You owe us for this. Bye.”
“What’s going on kid?”
“Company from hell, or just the hellmouth.”
