AUTHORS NOTE and SPOILER ALERT: this chapter refers to events in the seventh season episode of Stargate titled Fragile Balance. If you choose to skip reading this chapter you will not miss anything important to the story.
The young, fairly good looking, blonde sunglass wearing high school student stepped past the attractive young woman who was leaning against one of the pillars holding up the canopy over the entrance to the school building. "Slipping Jack, you overlooked me."
The young man turned and with wary expression took a step toward Dawn. "It's high school. Not a war zone or another planet. Hey Dawn."
"Sunnydale High was a war zone. From beneath you it devours and that was just what came from the basement." She shivered as she pushed away from the column to stand next to Jack.
"So why did you stop by? Here to get a good look at the science experiment gone bad?"
"Nope. Job offer and to let you know that you aren't the only one who was non-existent then poof hi I'm here and look at me."
"Have you gotten some off-world bug Dawn?"
"Nope, still on sick leave. I just got back from running some errands for Giles. Tomorrow I'll be back at work on restricted duty. I don't know about what you are planning on doing, but if you want the SWCI will take you in."
"Doing what? How did you find out about me?"
"Whatever. If you want to help or work something will be found for you to do, if you just want to have some place to think they'll let you hang out. As to how I found out about you, I made friends with the security guys and do I need to say anything more besides Willow."
"They don't know me. Why would they give me a job?"
"Tell them that Umad sent you."
Chuckling for a few minutes Dawn slung her arm around the young clone of Jack O'Neill. "I'm only a phone call away if you want to talk. I'll also help clear up the confusion of the crazy house and I have plenty of embarrassing stories I'm willing to share."
"The unofficial name for the place where you picked me up from. All those people and way too few bathrooms."
"From what I remember it fits."
They walked away from the school building with Dawn telling about some of the antics when she was home last week while Janet had her taking it easy.
Expecting Dawn to stop by first thing on her first day back Janet wasn't surprised when she leaned against her office door, but what Dawn said was unexpected.
"Doc, put me out of my misery."
"What's the matter?" Janet moved around her desk to rest a hand on Dawn's forehead feeling for a fever.
"Went out with Jack last night. I still have yet to learn that beer is bad." Dawn leaned against the door frame with her eyes closed.
"Hangover Doc, hangover."
"Why would you and Colonel O'Neill go out drinking last night?"
"Oh no, the young high school Jack and I went out last night not old Colonel Jack. We were trying to one up each other on weird stuff that's happened to us."
"Who won?" Smiling now, Janet asked thinking of the now the pretty much same age trouble makers with equally short attention spans in regard to something they aren't interested in.
"We declared it a draw. Could you help me out with something?" Dawn shifted to lean against Janet now.
Dawn turned to whisper into Janet's ear. They walked behind a curtain and a moment later Dawn's voice exclaimed, "Great. Now my butt is classified."
Angling the mirror to get a better view Dawn peered at the new tattoo on her posterior. A set of instructions and two small images. If found please return to
above a picture of the scythe, an axe with a spear on one end, and the symbol for Earth from the stargate.
