The Lion and the Unicorn
The Lion and the UnicornBuffy Summers tossed and turned in her bed. It’d been about a week since Draco had gone back to England and she was lonely. She hadn’t been able to sleep in a while. She heard a small ‘pop’ behind her and sat up. Draco was standing there brushing imaginary dust off of himself.
“Hi.” She smiled at him.
“Guess what?”
“What?”
“Professor Dumbledore would like to know if you and your friends would like to come to England.”
“Forever?”
“Well, if you want. But for the time being, he needs your help.”
Buffy set her head back in the pillow.
“Take off your shoes.”
He looked puzzled.
“I need time to think about it. So take off your shoes and get under these covers.”

The next morning Buffy woke up to see Dawn staring straight at her. She groaned.
“Yours is so not the face I wanted to see right now.”
“Yah well the other one is in the bathroom. So get up.” Buffy shoved her sister off the bed and sat up. “What time is it?”
“It’s almost 11:00.” She giggled.
“You should’ve seen Willow when she tried to wake you up. She came out of your room all freaked out I think until she realized it was Draco in your bed.” Buffy hopped off the bed and downstairs. Her sister followed her.
They were all gathered around downstairs eating breakfast when Draco emerged.
“Hey D-man!” Xander greeted him. Buffy smiled.
Ever since he had shown up on her doorstep on her birthday, everyone had grown to like him. Even Xander, since he tended to hate everyone Buffy dated. Giles liked him because he was British and a wizard and whenever he was around, Xander never called Giles G-man. Willow liked him because he was a wizard and he genuinely cared about Buffy. Dawn liked him because he was cool and treated her like a person, and not just Buffy’s little sister, Kennedy liked him because Willow liked him, and Faith liked him because he wasn’t scared of her.
“So?”
All eyes turned to him. “Huh?”
He looked accusingly at Buffy. “Professor Dumbledore would like all of you to come to England to help him with something up your alley.”
“You never told me that. What is it?”
“Ah. It’s a prophecy.”
“OOH! I wanna go!” Willow started waving her arms.
Xander frowned. “I think the X-man’s had enough of those things.”
Dawn giggled. “X-man.”
Buffy shushed them. “Everyone! Heads down.” They obliged. “All in favor of going, raise your hands.” A few hands went in the air. “If you are tapped on the shoulder, open your eyes, stand up, and go by the counter.”
Moments later, Buffy was standing with Willow, Giles, Dawn and Faith.
Kennedy and Xander were the only ones sitting.
Buffy frowned. “Well, Kennedy is easy. She can stay with another Slayer. She could even stay with Angel. But Xander is something else.”
“Xander has to come!” Willow pouted. She thought for a moment… “We could have someone take a look at your eye…” Xander jumped up. “I’m there!”

An hour later, everyone was packed. Rona had come by to pick up Kennedy, and Draco was standing in the middle with a large magazine.
“Now, everyone grab hold of this magazine. In exactly 10 seconds, it will transport us to – to somewhere.”
Everyone managed to at least touch some part of it and in ten seconds, they were all gone.
