And Some Gave Them Brown

A single hand rose confidentially into the air. Buffy recognized it immediately and smiled, knowing the question that was coming. She acknowledged the girl with a slight nod of her head and a barely concealed smile.

“Can we leave now?

“Abso-freakin-lutely.”

Roughly an hour later ever troop was assembled in the Great Hall. They were all armed with holy water and various weapons. Faith had returned and Dawn was in the hospital wing. Buffy polished her scythe and watched Faith fit arrows into her crossbow.

“So…plan of action?”

Buffy raised her eyebrow. “Is there ever?”

“I didn’t think so.” Faith smirked. She put her crossbow down and grinned.

“I have a plan.”

“Oh?” Buffy cocked her head.

“Oh.” Faith hopped up and bounced down the hall.

“Are we ready?”

“Yes Master.”

“And the Slayer?”

“She’s coming Master. I can feel her.”

“Good. I’ve missed her.” He leaned back and closed his eyes. He breathed deeply, his nostrils flaring.

His eyes snapped open and a vicious grin spread upon his face. “She’s here.”

The vampires jumped up, all ready for attack. There was no one there.

Except Faith.

“You look disappointed to see me.” She pouted. “Expecting someone else?”

Three vampires were dust within minutes. The rest lunged but stumbled in surprise when Faith disappeared.

She shimmered and appeared behind them all. She crept along quietly, invisible, taking out vampires with no one noticing.

The Master stood up, obviously angered when the vampires returned with half their numbers and no slayer.

“Where is she!?” He screamed.

“Who? Me?” Faith smirked.

“So.” He grinned, fangs showing, “you’re the slayer? Whatever happened to the blonde one? I liked her.”

“You mean me?” Buffy asked from behind. He spun around, clearly taken aback at the two Slayers.

Faith took a step forward. The Master snarled.

Buffy walked forward. He spun to face her.

“Never turn your back to an opponent.” Kennedy lectured, walking up.

The Master sniffed the air, becoming angrier at the minute.

“It’s not possible!” He screamed.

“It’s entirely possible.” Willow appeared across from Kennedy.

The Master was now completely surrounded by women on all four sides of him.

He snarled again and growled. “Now!” He shrieked, commanding his vampire army.

Willow just smiled a twinkly smile and unleashed half the slayer population from her tiny snowglobe.

The Master growled again. “You think you can defeat me!?” He shook his head. “Not this time. I lost too much to you.”

He spun and caught the stake thrown at his heart by Faith, who was agitated. She never missed.

“Three Slayers. I like the odds.” The Master licked his lips and raised his arm at Faith. He sent the stake swerving into Willow’s stomach. Her eyes shot open and she sank to the ground gagging on her own blood.

“No!” Kennedy screamed striding forward.

Buffy raised the scythe and cut off the hand of the man reaching for her neck.

The Master grinned wickedly. “You still have much to learn.”

He turned his bright gaze toward Faith and she collapsed to the floor. Buffy clutched her head and leaned on her scythe. Images, horrible images were swimming through their minds.

“I’m not through with you though.” He punched Buffy and sent her flying across the grass.

She leapt to her feet and swung the scythe around at the oncoming vampires. She even saw a couple of demons and werewolves. But he had been successful. She had lost the Master.

But she had bigger problems. “Willow!” She ran to her, cradled in Kennedy’s arms.

“Willow?”

Willow opened her mouth but no words came out. Slayers surrounded them everywhere. She had released the remaining girls from the snow globe.

“Get her out of here.” Buffy gritted her teeth.

“Go.” She commanded the girls, and they threw themselves at the vampires.

“Faith.” She whispered and the two girls became one. They ran down mountainsides of rubble.

“Do you know what we have to do?” Faith questioned.

“Always.” Buffy winked. She pulled two vials out of her pocked and downed the contents of one while watching Faith down hers.

Faith ran with Buffy on her heels.

“You’re too late girls.” The Master rocked on his heels. “It’s starting.”

He backed away to reveal a teenage girl gagged and chained to a large brick wall.

“MM!! MMM-mmMMm!!!” She screamed.

“Who’s that?” Buffy asked. The Master swung to look. Faith rammed a large slab of wood at his head and he fell to the ground.

“Quick. Untie her.” Faith ran to the girl on the wall. She swung the scythe at the chains and the girl fell into her arms, turning into a pile of dust as she did so.

“What the hell!?” Faith screamed and Buffy shrugged. The last thing Buffy saw before she sank into oblivion was Faith being kicked in the back by a large vampiric foot. And the last thing she heard was the bloodcurdling scream coming from somewhere behind her.
